About the Role
Chin & Orr Lawyers Professional Corporation is seeking a Junior Law Clerk / Receptionist / Intake Coordinator to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, organized, and client-focused individual who is interested in building a career in a supportive legal environment.
The successful candidate will assist with front-desk reception, client intake, file administration, and general law clerk support.
Experience in family law is considered an asset, but we are also open to candidates who are eager to learn and grow into the role.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for clients, prospective clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and third-party service providers
Answer phones, manage emails, schedule appointments, and direct inquiries appropriately
Assist with client intake, including gathering preliminary information, opening files, and coordinating follow-ups
Provide junior law clerk and administrative support to lawyers and senior staff
Draft, format, organize, and finalize correspondence, court forms, and other legal documents under supervision
Assist with filing, service, and document management, including use of Ontario court systems and portals where applicable
Help organize financial disclosure, client records, briefs, tabs, exhibits, and other file materials
Maintain diarized deadlines, court dates, client follow-ups, and other important dates
Coordinate meetings, court appearances, conferences, mediations, and other appointments
Support file opening and closing, billing-related administration, and general office organization
Communicate professionally,
sensitively, and confidentially with clients and other parties
Perform other administrative and clerical duties as required
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience in a law office, reception, intake, legal assistant, law clerk, or administrative role is preferred
Experience in family law is a strong asset, but not required
Law Clerk, Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or related diploma is an asset; equivalent practical experience will be considered
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Excellent attention to detail, proofreading, and document formatting skills
Professional, client-focused communication skills and sound judgment
Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Experience with practice management or family law software, such as Divorcemate, LEAP, Cosmolex, or similar platforms, is an asset
Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within the firm
