Münter Design & Build is hiring an experienced Lead Carpenter for full-time, year-round custom residential construction in Fernie, BC.
We are looking for a robust hands-on carpenter who can lead a small crew, read construction drawings, plan daily work and take responsibility for significant portions of a custom-home project.
This is not an office-only supervisory position. You will remain actively involved in the work while helping keep the crew productive, organized and building to a high standard.
What we are looking for
You should be able to:
- Read and understand residential construction drawings
- Complete accurate layout from plans
- Lead and support a small carpentry crew
- Complete residential framing and structural carpentry
- Plan daily work and identify upcoming material requirements
- Coordinate your work with project management and subcontractors
- Identify construction problems before they become larger issues
- Maintain strong quality and productivity standards
- Work independently without constant supervision
- Communicate clearly with the project manager and site team
Experience with custom homes, complex framing and building-envelope details is a strong asset. Red Seal certification is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
Compensation
$50-$60/hour The top of the range is for someone who can genuinely take responsibility for site execution, solve problems and lead work independently.
Pay is based on demonstrated ability and responsibility, not simply years in the trade.
