Richardson Group is seeking a skilled, reliable, and proactive Maintenance Worker / Renovation Technician to support our growing portfolio of residential rental properties and client homes across the GTA.
We are a small but rapidly growing company, which means you will be working closely with a tight-knit team, including direct collaboration with the owner. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be part of a growing business, take ownership of their work, and grow with us over time.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in their work, solves problems independently, and can handle everything from day-to-day maintenance to full renovation support.
What You’ll Be Doing
Property Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform general maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, etc.)
- Troubleshoot issues with HVAC, appliances, and building systems
- Replace fixtures such as light bulbs, switches, faucets, and hardware
- Inspect properties regularly and identify issues before they become problems
- Ensure all safety systems (smoke detectors, CO alarms, fire alarms) are functional and compliant
Renovation & Turnover Work
- Complete and assist with renovations including:
- Flooring installation (vinyl, laminate, tile)
- Kitchen and bathroom updates
- Drywall repair, taping, sanding, and painting
- Prepare rental units between tenants (cleaning, repairs, refresh work)
- Support larger renovation projects alongside contractors when required
Exterior & Property Upkeep
- Lawn care, landscaping, and seasonal maintenance (grass cutting, snow clearing, debris removal)
- Garbage and recycling management
- General curb appeal improvements for listings and rentals
Real Estate Support
- Install and remove real estate signage
- Prepare homes for sale or lease (touch-ups, staging prep, minor improvements)
- Assist with last-minute fixes prior to showings or closings
Equipment, Driving & Logistics
- Safely operate company vehicles and transport tools/materials between job sites
- Ability to tow and maneuver a trailer confidently
- Load and unload materials, tools, and debris as required
- Maintain, clean, and organize tools, vehicles, and equipment
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in maintenance, construction, or renovations (2–3+ years preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Basic electrical
- Plumbing
- Carpentry and finishing work
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physically capable, including:
- Lifting 60+ lbs regularly
- Working on ladders and in various environments
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Experience towing a trailer (required)
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Professional when interacting with tenants and clients
- Good communication skills (spoken and written English)
Bonus Skills (Not Required but Valuable)
- Trade certification or apprenticeship experience
- Experience with full unit turnovers or investment properties
- Painting and finishing expertise
- Experience working in occupied residential units
