Help us inspire support as a Marketing Copywriter
Full Time Permanent Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation is seeking a Marketing Copywriter to play a key role in developing high-quality content that supports fundraising, marketing, donor engagement, and Foundation priorities. This position is responsible for creating compelling written materials that engage audiences, inspire action, and support the Foundation's fundraising and marketing objectives. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing and Communications, you will lead the development of content across a variety of channels, including fundraising campaigns, donor communications, impact reports, case statements, web content, digital marketing, event materials, and other marketing materials.
You will serve as the Foundation's primary website content lead, ensuring online content remains accurate, current, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities. As the Foundation's lead marketing editor, you will ensure content is clear, accurate, engaging, and aligned with organizational messaging, brand standards, and editorial best practices. Working collaboratively with colleagues across development, community giving, events, marketing, and leadership groups, you will create audience-specific messaging that supports donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition activities.
You will partner with stakeholders across the Foundation to develop content that advances organizational goals, supports donor relations initiatives, and strengthens the effectiveness of fundraising and marketing efforts.
This role requires someone who can successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and high-quality work. You will oversee content development from concept through completion, coordinate editorial schedules, contribute to campaign planning, and identify opportunities to improve content processes and efficiencies across the organization.
By monitoring audience engagement and content performance, you will help optimize messaging and contribute to effective fundraising and marketing outcomes. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and editor with strong project management abilities, sound judgment, and a passion for developing content that drives engagement and supports organizational objectives.
Qualifications: Post-secondary diploma/degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, English or relevant field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Five (5) years of experience in content development, copywriting, editing, and communications preferably within a marketing, fundraising, nonprofit, or healthcare environment
Proven track record developing marketing content that engages audiences, inspires action, and supports organizational and fundraising objectives.
Experience in nonprofit fundraising writing an asset
Superior professional writing, proofreading and editing skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Knowledge of marketing concepts, brand development and brand reputation. Exemplary research, problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues.
Efficiently plan and oversee a wide variety of tasks, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain quality with high attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and adept at using tact, diplomacy and discretion with donors, agency partners, suppliers and HHSF and Hospital Staff.
Team player with demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision and an ability to self-manage effectively in a changing environment with multiple conflicting demands.
Resourceful and independent, comfortable working within the framework of an integrated development program and team-oriented environment.
Excellent organizational, time-management, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and attention to detail. Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Monday.com), writing and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), and social media platforms.
Strong understanding of SEO principles, digital marketing,
and fundraising best practices.
Working
Hours, Location and Requirements
This position operates Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, onsite at Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation head office at 1 King Street West, Hamilton, ON. Opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days a week after 3 months of employment based on approval of VP. The nature of the work is such that minimal evening and weekend work is required.
Travel is required as the position will regularly visit various locations (i.e.
Hamilton Health
Science affiliated sites, event locations, corporate partners, donors). The incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and have use of a reliable vehicle.
A current and satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) or Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) is a requirement of employment.
