NETWORK ENGINEER
Job Type: Contract
Contract Duration: Initial 6-month contract, good potential for extension
Pay Rate: $60 - $80/hr
Location: 4 days/week Onsite - Toronto/Vancouver/Calgary/Ottawa/Quebec City/Montreal office
This role will require you to work from one of the Canadian offices 4 days a week.
Your New Company
We are recruiting for a Network Engineer for initial 6-month HYBRID contract to start with our client in legal industry.
Your New Role The Network Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Data Centre and Networks team and will report to the Network Operations Team Lead. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in areas such as Cisco Routing/Switching, Cisco nexus 9k series, Wireless (Aruba Central), SD-WAN (Versa), Checkpoint Firewalls. Experience working with L2/L3 Network devices such as Cisco switches.
You will be handling support incidents, service requests and be assigned to key projects.
What You Need to Do
Essential Functions
- 15% - Network Operations & support
- 50% - Project work – we have 3 active projects that are on-going
- 15% - Update/Author Documentation of implemented solutions
- 5% - ITIL related activities (change, incident, problem management, CMDB)
- 15% - Work with Senior Network engineer for tasks/updates related to project activities
RESPONSIBILITIES: Troubleshoot network issues including SD-WAN, LAN (Cisco catalyst 9300, 9500 & Nexus 9k switches), WLAN as well as security (Firewalls).
- In depth knowledge in Cisco Nexus switches (9k & FEX extensions) – Installation, configuration & Operation. Nexus 7k / 5k /2k experience highly preferred.
- VLANs, PVLANs, Layer 3 switching, ACL's, Spanning Tree (MST / PVST), CatOS / IOS / NX-OS, Cisco Nexus vPC, VDC,
FabricPath, FEX technologies and High-level switching troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent understanding of and experience with networking principles, standards and technology including TCP/IP, SD-WANs, VLANs, VPN, Wi-Fi, NAC (Aruba Clearpass), and common protocols including SMTP, HTTP/S, S/FTP, IPSEC, SSL/TLS/SSH, LDAP, DNS.
- Preferable expert knowledge of infrastructure cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, MM / SM / OM3 fiber) and corresponding transceivers (SFPs, GBICs, etc.)
- Complete understanding of EIGRP / BGP / OSPF and managing routing in an enterprise workplace.
- Working knowledge of SD-WAN and DMZ technologies.
- Configure & Troubleshoot Network Systems that utilize Cisco Switches, NAT Configurations, Firewall Policies.
- Participate in key projects and represent the Infrastructure/Networking team.
- Create and update documentation (design specs, project documentation, KB/SOP documents, other documentation as required) Implement processes, standards, and governance of network environments.
- Follow/review standard operating procedures related to delivering effective preventative maintenance and solutions.
- Participate in project related work inside and when required outside of normal business hours.
- Participate in support work inside and when required outside of normal business hours.
- Adhere to Infrastructure architecture governance and standards for the legal industry.
- Perform other support work as assigned.
Zscaler Proxy Solution (ZIA & ZPA) - While not mandatory, implementing Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) is a nice to have skill. What You'll Need to Succeed:
Experience
- 6 to 10 years of experience
- Design/implementation/troubleshooting/support of routers, switching, firewalls within a large or enterprise network environment
Education
- Four years of college/University education resulting in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses
- Technical certification such as Cisco CCNP-ENT (routing: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), CCNP - SP is preferred.
- Technical certification in SD WAN.
- Aruba certified or working knowledge is preferred.
- Checkpoint certified or working knowledge is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities No direct supervisory responsibility.
