AbouttheRole

ReportingtotheDirector,PeopleandCulture,thePeopleandSafetyCoordinatorwillcoordinatevariouspeopleprogramsandleadsafety,wellness,inclusion,andengagementprograms.

Highlightsofkeyresponsibilitiesinclude

- LeadtheresearchanddevelopmentofinternalCommunityofBelongingprogramaswellasthedevelopmentoftheWellnessprogram,includingprojectplansandprogramimplementation;
- Coordinatethefullrecruitmentprocess,includingjobpostings,resumescreening,interviews,backgroundchecks,andemploymentoffers;
- FacilitatetheJointHealthandSafetyCommittee’sactivitiessuchasmeetings,trainingandinspections,withtheCo-Chairs;
- Conductanannualsafetyprogramaudit,developnewprocesses,policiesandconductinternaltrainingonupdatesandnewrequirements;
- Coordinatewithdepartmentmanagerstoverifyallrequiredsafetystandardoperatingprocedures,trackandensurecertificationsarerenewedinatimelymanner;
- WorkwiththeDirectorofPeopleandCulturetoconductannualcorporatesafetytrainingneedsassessmenttodevelopandresearchhealthandsafetyeducationandtrainingplanresources;




- WorkincompliancewiththeOccupationalHealthandSafetyAct,WHMIS,applicablelegislation,regulations,statutes,anddepartmentalpolicies,procedures,practicesandoperationalguidelines,andperformsafeworkpractices.

Theidealcandidatepossessesstrongknowledgeofhealthandsafety,employmentandlabourrelationslegislation,standards,andbestpracticeswithaminimumofthree(3)yearsofrelatedexperiencewithinafull-serviceindustry,municipalorpublicsectorisastrongasset.Additionally,thesuccessfulcandidatewillhaveadegreeordiplomainHumanResources,LabourRelations,HealthandSafetyorarelateddisciplineandholdorwillingtoobtainaCertifiedHumanResources(CHRP/CHRL)and/orCanadianRegisteredSafetyProfessional(CRSP)designations.

Youhaveexperienceinprojectmanagementfocusedonhealthandsafetyandtrainingprograms,aswellasstrongandclearoralcommunicationintrainingfacilitation,providingdirectionandenablingeffectivelanguagetofosteraninclusiveandsafeenvironment.
