Role Description The Pharmacy Assistant role is a full time, on-site position based at Doon Village Pharmacy in Kitchener, ON.

The Pharmacy

Assistant will support pharmacists by preparing and organizing prescriptions, labeling and packaging medications, and assisting with methadone and other specialized services under appropriate supervision. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining inventory levels, stocking shelves, checking expiry dates, and ensuring the pharmacy area is orderly and well-organized. The role also involves welcoming patients, handling phone inquiries with professional etiquette, processing transactions, and providing clear information on OTC products and basic health care supplies.

Assistant collaborates with the pharmacy team to deliver safe, efficient service and a positive experience for every patient.

Qualifications

Knowledge of prescription processing and basic pharmacy procedures, with the ability to follow established protocols accurately.

Strong customer service skills and professional phone etiquette to assist patients and health care providers respectfully and effectively.

Experience with inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring medications and OTC products.

Attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate labeling, record keeping, and compliance with pharmacy standards.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment and maintain confidentiality of health information.

Basic computer skills for pharmacy software, point-of-sale systems, and documentation.

Previous experience as a pharmacy assistant or related health care support role is an asset.

Completion of a pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician program, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
