As a Pre-Construction Commodity Manager, you’ll be a key driver in how Siemens Energy delivers major Grid Technology projects across Canada. You’ll build strong relationships with construction contractors and suppliers, negotiate strategic agreements, and ensure the right partners and materials are in place for complex civil and installation work. Your decisions directly influence project success, cost efficiency, and long‑term value — a role where your experience truly matters.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Own your portfolio as the primary procurement interface for construction‑related scopes (civil, electrical installation, engineering services, etc.) ensuring seamless collaboration with subcontractors.
Shape supply and subcontractor strategies for cutting‑edge FACTS and HVDC projects - essential infrastructure supporting Canada’s clean‑energy transition.
Lead commercial evaluations and negotiations, partnering closely with technical experts to align on scope, requirements, and solutions.
Drive cost efficiency and innovation,
bringing forward ideas that strengthen project execution and supplier performance.
Collaborate across disciplines - Procurement, Civil Engineering, Erection & Commissioning, and Project Management - to ensure procurement excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
What You Bring A bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Engineering, or a related field, plus 5+ years of experience in Civil Construction or Preconstruction.
Advanced negotiation skills and experience working within project‑based environments.
Comfortable operating in a matrixed, international organization, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders. Possesses excellent communication skills in English and French, with the ability to translate technical and commercial details for diverse audiences.
A team‑oriented, customer‑focused mindset, with strong time‑management abilities.
A proactive, solutions-driven approach with curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in complex project settings, along with a willingness to travel up to 20% within Canada and internationally.
This position is in a French-speaking workplace but requires fluency in English to comprehend documentation and technical terms from international sources, and to communicate with customers, suppliers, or international colleagues.
