The Role The Research Consultant conducts qualitative and quantitative research to support a range of consulting engagements. The role involves working with primary and secondary data, completing detailed analysis, engaging with stakeholders, and using findings to develop clear reports, briefs, presentations, and recommendations.

Responsibilities include

Conducting secondary research, including literature reviews, environmental scans, jurisdictional scans, and industry and policy research.

Collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting large secondary datasets.

Conducting quantitative analysis, including descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.

Designing and conducting primary research, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and workshops.

Developing research tools like survey questionnaires, interview guides, and workshop guides. Synthesizing and combining quantitative and qualitative findings to tell a coherent story. Preparing reports, presentations, briefing materials, and other deliverables.





Supporting the development of practical and impactful recommendations based on research. Participating in client meetings and project discussions.

Working collaboratively with the broader consulting team to plan and deliver projects and ensure research findings are accurate, grounded, and aligned with project objectives. Qualifications

2+ years of relevant experience in research, consulting, economic analysis, policy analysis, business analysis or a related field.

Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including experience working with messy primary and secondary data.

Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex datasets and other information from multiple sources.

Experience working with large datasets, including data cleaning, manipulation, analysis, and interpretation.

Proficiency with one or more data analysis or statistical tools, like Stata, R, Python, or SQL.

Strong writing skills, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and succinctly in reports, presentations, and other materials.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage work across multiple projects and deadlines.

Strong communication skills, including comfort working with diverse clients and stakeholders.

A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Political Science, Business, or a related field. A graduate degree is considered an asset.

Experience with economic modelling, econometrics, forecasting, scenario analysis, or economic impact analysis is considered an asset. The position is open to candidates located across Canada. Preference will be given to candidates located in Halifax, Vancouver, Ottawa, or Toronto.
