CRIS coordinates and delivers a broad range programming that supports researcher development in six key functional areas . Reporting to the Manager, CRIS Operations & Programs and working closely with the team and leaders across the university, the successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity to support the planning and delivery of researcher-centric services that enhance the overall research and innovation impact at the University of Toronto.

The Research

Tools & Technology Liaison contributes their up-to-date knowledge of resources, tools and technology relevant to scholarly research and innovation. This includes contributing their understanding of broad range of available and emerging research resources across all stages of the research process and applicable across a diverse set of disciplines. The incumbent works with the CRIS team and partners across the university to communicate and amplify these resources across the tri-campus.

As a direct liaison for faculty and divisional research offices, with partners, the successful candidate will help to identify available solutions and in doing so, build effective stakeholder relationships.

The Research

Tools & Technology Liaison will work as part of the project team to develop and refine researcher-centric resources such as the CRIS Resource Hub and Digital Research Infrastructure Portal and to identify emerging needs using the application of a UX (user experience) approach or other effective user-centred design and evaluation strategies. The successful candidate will lead working groups and other engagement activities, and apply project management principals to ensure that project milestones are established and achieved. They will synthesize meeting recommendations,



stakeholder consultations and existing documentation and best practices, and work collaboratively with CRIS stakeholders to identify, assess and recommend new tools and resources for research to be piloted and/or recommended for adoption.

The Research

Tools & Technology Liaison, will connect with stakeholders, to develop documentation and procedures to support effective roll-out of new tools for scholarly research and coordinate and/or facilitate complementary supports, training or workshops to build capacity for researchers to utilize new research tools and technologies.

Your responsibilities will include: Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making

Researching and analyzing existing business processes, programs and services

Developing overall project design

Developing or modifying project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines

Implementing project communications plans

Maintaining information on digital platforms

Researching, analyzing and recommending solutions to project challenges

Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders

Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience. Master's Degree is an asset.

A minimum six to seven years relevant experience working in a research-intensive environment, supporting faculty researchers to adopt or use tools relevant to conducting scholarly research and innovation.

Experience includes developing implementing and evaluating programs or services with a user-centred approach

Experience providing adult education or professional development, including training or workshops for professionals or faculty in higher education or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience building and maintaining positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including the application of progressive user engagement approaches

Demonstrated experience leading and managing project phases including a strong understanding and application of project management methodology

Demonstrated understanding of university and research policies and procedures





Experience working in a highly complex organization with multi-stakeholders

Experience supporting and facilitating focus groups and/or senior level committees

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bookings, SharePoint) and e-mail software applications; proven ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.

Strong skills with website tools including WordPress or equivalent and content management procedures and tools

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate on initiatives with a wide variety of contacts. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across an organization, with multiple units and/or departments

Demonstrated sound understanding of research tools and technologies relevant to scholarly research, with proven ability to quickly learn recent systems, technologies and tools.

Excellent communication skills including demonstrated writing skills and presentation skills

Ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward information to all levels and types of audiences

Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and high quality

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a remote environment showing initiative and goodjudgment, and work cooperatively and be an effective team member.

Proven effectiveness in relating to all levels of faculty, staff, students and individuals external to the University Assets (Nonessential): Previous experience applying user-experience (UX) principles to develop services for faculty
