Senior Systems Testing / QA Specialist We are hiring a Senior Systems Testing / QA Specialist to support the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement in delivering quality assurance, test strategy, business analysis, automation, defect management, and end-to-end testing for large and complex enterprise applications. The successful candidate will have strong experience working in Agile and cloud-based environments, with hands-on expertise in Azure DevOps, SQL/PLSQL, ETL/data migration testing, web-based application testing, AODA/accessibility testing, automated test scripting, performance and load testing, and defect lifecycle management. This role requires a strong combination of QA/testing and business analysis capabilities, including the ability to translate requirements into test strategies and scenarios, work with cross-functional teams, analyze data, manage defects, and support testing throughout the Agile/iterative Software Development Life Cycle.

Key Responsibilities Test Strategy, Planning & Execution

Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and technical teams to develop comprehensive test strategies and test plans.

Plan, organize, and implement testing efforts for large and complex applications, with a focus on web-based solutions.

Develop manual test scripts, test cases, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria.

Plan and prepare test data for each phase of the testing lifecycle.

Execute comprehensive QA and testing activities across front-end and back-end application components.

ETL, Data Migration & Database Testing

Develop end-to-end data migration and ETL testing strategies, plans, scenarios, and test cases.

Validate data migration workflows from source to target systems.

Develop and execute functional scenarios and integration workflows for ETL processes.

Use SQL/PLSQL tools to review, extract, analyze, and validate database information.

Perform data validation and analysis to ensure accuracy, completeness, integrity, and consistency.

Support testing of database-driven applications and backend processes.

Analyze data and identify discrepancies or defects within data migration and integration workflows.

Web-Based & Application Testing

Perform comprehensive testing of web-based applications and enterprise application components.

Develop test plans covering web-based UI, backend, functional, regression, smoke, performance, load, and stress testing.

Plan and execute testing across front-end and back-end environments.

Perform Java-based UI and backend testing.

Support testing of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications.

Apply appropriate testing methods within object-oriented application environments.

Conduct post-release and post-implementation testing to validate production deployments.

Test Automation & Azure DevOps

Use Microsoft Azure DevOps or equivalent tools to manage the complete testing lifecycle.

Create and execute testing scripts, test cases, test suites, and approval workflows.

Manage test artifacts, execution results, defects, and testing status within DevOps.

Develop, modify, and execute automated test scripts using Katalon Studio or equivalent automation tools.

Apply automation strategies to improve testing efficiency and coverage.

Work with version control and automated testing tools as required.

Support automation within Agile and DevOps environments.

Accessibility, Security & Performance Testing

Develop and execute AODA/accessibility test plans for web-based applications.

Use accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, or equivalent.





Test application compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements and related standards.

Support vulnerability testing and security-related QA activities.

Work with vulnerability testing tools and identify issues requiring remediation.

Perform performance, load, and stress testing using appropriate tools and methodologies.

Validate application behavior under different performance and workload conditions.

Business & Systems Analysis

Perform business and systems analysis within cloud-based environments.

Participate in requirements gathering and development of user stories.

Create business and technical requirements artifacts within Agile/DevOps environments.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into appropriate testing strategies, scenarios, and acceptance criteria.

Support business modernization initiatives through requirements analysis and gap analysis.

Develop business analysis deliverables that help identify opportunities for process improvements and business efficiencies.

Apply strong data modeling, data analysis, and report-writing skills.

Participate in business requirement workshops, sprint reviews, walkthroughs, and related Agile ceremonies.

Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis

Record and manage defects using Azure DevOps or equivalent defect management tools.

Document defects with detailed descriptions, screenshots, reproduction steps, severity, priority, and supporting evidence.

Identify, trace, isolate, reproduce, and investigate application problems.

Perform root cause analysis and work with development and technical teams to determine appropriate resolutions.

Track defect status throughout the testing lifecycle.

Escalate issues appropriately and communicate risks and unresolved defects to stakeholders.

Support Agile sprint management, defect tracking, and testing lifecycle management.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

Work within Agile/Scrum and iterative development environments.

Collaborate with distributed project teams using virtual collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams or equivalent.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the Agile solution development lifecycle.

Participate in sprint reviews, walkthroughs, requirements workshops, and project meetings.
