About The Role The Senior Data Specialist at McKesson plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced cloud-native data solutions on the Azure Data platform, with a primary focus on Azure Databricks. This position involves building enterprise-scale data pipelines, implementing modern lakehouse architectures, and delivering high-quality, trusted data products that support analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Change Data Capture frameworks.

This role requires close collaboration with architects, product teams, analytics stakeholders, and governance teams to deliver scalable, reusable, and production-ready data engineering solutions.

The Senior Data

Specialist will ensure data quality, security, and governance across the enterprise while supporting compliance in a regulated environment. The position offers an opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and influence the evolution of data platforms within McKesson's innovative healthcare ecosystem.

Qualifications Applicants should possess a strong technical background in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-native solutions. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.



Candidates should have at least 7 years of experience in enterprise data platform development, with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with Azure Databricks in production environments.

Deep expertise in PySpark, advanced SQL, and designing large-scale data pipelines is essential.

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage (Gen2), Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, CDC, and Medallion Architecture is required. Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, metadata management, and governance practices is critical.

Certifications in Azure and Databricks are highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and a proactive approach to optimizing performance are necessary.

Experience working within healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries will be considered an advantage.

Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize large-scale data pipelines utilizing Azure Databricks, PySpark, and advanced SQL techniques to support enterprise data needs.

Create and maintain batch and near real-time data ingestion frameworks leveraging Azure Data Factory, Delta Lake, and CDC methodologies.

Implement and support modern Lakehouse architectures based on Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) to enable scalable and reliable data processing.

Design and deploy Delta Live Tables pipelines to improve data reliability, maintainability, and quality across data workflows.

Develop scalable ETL/ELT frameworks capable of processing high-volume datasets efficiently and securely.

Optimize Spark workloads through partitioning, job orchestration, and performance tuning to ensure high throughput and low latency.

Establish data quality validation frameworks, lineage tracking,



and metadata management to support data governance initiatives.

Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements through documented controls and automated testing processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, providing technical leadership and mentorship.

Evaluate emerging Azure and Databricks features, recommending enhancements to improve platform performance and operational efficiency.

Lead code reviews, promote best practices, and support continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
