Position Summary We are seeking a full-time Senior / Lead Finance Consultant to lead and deliver complex Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O;) finance implementations and optimizations. In this role, you will serve as the primary functional expert for financial management, working across all core finance domains. You will partner with client finance leadership, solution architects, and delivery teams to assess current-state processes, design scalable future-state solutions, and configure D365 F&O; to meet complex business, regulatory, and operational requirements.
The ideal candidate brings strong accounting and finance process expertise, deep hands-on Dynamics 365 F&O; finance experience, and the ability to translate business needs into effective system solutions. You will mentor junior consultants, collaborate cross-functionally, and act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. This is a senior individual-contributor and delivery-lead role.
You will lead the finance workstream and direct the project-related work of other consultants and specialists assigned to your engagements; the position does not carry direct people-management or line-management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities Functional Leadership and Solution Design
Lead finance workstreams for Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O; implementation and optimization projects
Conduct current-state assessments and gap analysis, and design future-state finance solutions with related business-process optimization
Configure and implement D365 F&O; Finance modules, including but not limited to: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections, Cash and Bank Management, Fixed Assets, Budgeting Control, Cost Accounting, Employee expense management, AP/AR automation
Lead fit‑gap analysis sessions and define solutions for complex finance requirements
Develop functional design documentation, process flows, configuration workbooks, and specifications
Design and execute finance data migration strategies, including master data, opening balances, and transactional data
Provide best‑practice guidance aligned with accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements
Collaborate with technical teams on integrations, extensions, reporting,
and Power Platform solutions Client Engagement and Stakeholder Management
Serve as the client-facing subject matter expert in finance and accounting
Build strong client relationships with finance leaders, controllers, and subject matter experts, guiding decision making throughout the engagement lifecycle
Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to gather requirements and validate solutions
Present solution designs and recommendations to client stakeholders Manage client expectations and identify process optimization and financial control improvement opportunities Project Delivery and Quality Assurance
Collaborate with project managers and solution architects to define work plans, timelines, and resourcing
Work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Technical teams to ensure end‑to‑end process integration
Lead configuration, testing strategy, system testing, and user acceptance testing for finance processes
Support development of training materials and delivery of end‑user training
Ensure finance deliverables meet quality standards, compliance requirements, and project objectives
Participate in go‑live preparation, cutover, and post‑implementation support Team Coordination and Knowledge Sharing
Provide proactive communication to internal and external stakeholders
Direct and coordinate the project-related work of other consultants assigned to the finance workstream
Mentor junior finance consultants and support skills development across the team
Share best practices, templates, and delivery knowledge across the organization
Support pre‑sales efforts including solution input, estimates, and proposal contributions as required Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant certification(s) preferred
CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting certification is an asset
Minimum 7 years of finance and accounting experience in enterprise or consulting environments
5+ years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (or AX 2012) Finance modules
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and audit readiness
Proven experience leading finance workstreams on complex ERP implementations
Experience working in multi‑entity, multi‑currency, and multi‑country finance environments
Strong understanding of cross-functional integration with Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
Experience with complementary Microsoft technologies such as DevOps, Power Platform, reporting tools (Power BI, SSRS), and integrations is an asset
Ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders Key Competencies Expert‑level knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O; Finance functionality and configuration
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to translate complex business requirements into system solutions
Exceptional client‑facing communication and presentation skills, including executive‑level audiences
Experience with finance data migration, reconciliation, and validation approaches
Proficient with financial reporting and analytics using D365 F&O;, Power BI, and Excel
Strong documentation and training skills for end‑user adoption (Industry experience in professional services, manufacturing, distribution, or other project-driven or finance-intensive sectors preferred)
Skilled in process reengineering, internal controls design, and change management
Proficient with project collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining attention to detail
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a distributed delivery team Position Details Full‑time, permanent position
Remote within North America; preference for candidates based in Canada (Toronto or Montreal area)
Travel to client sites in Canada and the US as required (up to 25%)
Primarily EST business hours, with flexibility for other time zones
