Position: Permanent

Work environment: Remote, with onsite client work as required

Location: Alberta or British Columbia

Base Salary: $125,000 to $140,000 CAD

Position Overview

Hammehr invites applications for the role of Senior Networking Consultant, on behalf of our client for a full time permanent opportunity.

The role combines senior network consulting, technical delivery, and client advisory work across network infrastructure and security. The work spans assessments, solution design, implementation and migration projects, managed-service activities, technical escalations, and the documentation and knowledge transfer that follow deployment.

You will work across wired and wireless networking, enterprise firewalls, Azure networking, datacenter networking, and Security Services Edge technologies. The role also involves translating client requirements into technical designs, statements of work, implementation plans, and practical recommendations that other technical and non-technical stakeholders can use.

The normal schedule is 40 hours per week during weekday business hours. Some client requests and project work require after-hours availability, and priorities may shift when technical escalations compete with planned delivery work.

What You’ll Do

- Assess client network environments and translate business, security, and technical requirements into network designs, recommendations, and implementation plans
- Lead or contribute to network security implementations and migrations from initial assessment and estimation through design, deployment, documentation, handover, and knowledge transfer
- Diagnose and resolve complex networking issues as an escalation point for other technical teams, including participation in incident response when required
- Maintain and improve client environments through managed-service health checks, configuration changes, firmware updates,

security services, and recurring technical reporting
- Advise clients on wired and wireless networking, enterprise firewalls, Azure networking, datacenter networking, and Security Services Edge technologies
- Develop statements of work, work breakdown structures, technical designs, as-built documentation, standards, and delivery procedures that make implementation expectations explicit
- Work with technical consultants, project delivery staff, client-facing teams, and account executives when solutions require coordination across technical and commercial requirements
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues and clients, including coaching, workshops, training, and knowledge transfer on implemented technologies

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of directly relevant experience working with complex network environments, including senior-level troubleshooting, design, implementation, or consulting responsibilities
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing both wired and wireless enterprise networks using established networking practices
- Advanced experience configuring, managing, optimizing, and hardening enterprise firewalls, together with working knowledge of datacenter and cloud networking
- Experience translating client or business requirements into technical designs and explaining network decisions, risks, or tradeoffs to stakeholders without relying on specialist terminology

Preferred Qualifications

- Hands-on experience with several of the client's core networking platforms or comparable technologies, including Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, or Cloudflare
- Azure networking experience involving Virtual Networks, gateways, VPNs, network appliances, firewalling, or related IaaS components
- Experience designing or implementing Security Services Edge solutions
- Consulting or managed-services experience that includes assessments, technical escalations, client workshops, recurring services, and project delivery across multiple customer environments
- Relevant Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Cisco, or HPE Aruba networking or security certifications, equivalent technical training, or willingness to pursue applicable certifications

The Challenges

- Planned projects, recurring managed-service work, and technical escalations can compete for attention, including occasional time-sensitive or after-hours client requirements
- Client environments vary in architecture, maturity, and existing technology, requiring recommendations that account for current constraints rather than assuming a standard design
- The technical scope is broad, and senior-level work includes both deep technical problem solving and making that expertise usable through documentation, client guidance, and support for other technical teams

Your Impact

- Client networks become more secure, reliable, and maintainable through stronger design, implementation, configuration, monitoring, and incremental improvement
- Technical teams have clearer standards, documentation, and escalation support when networking problems extend beyond routine troubleshooting
- Clients receive technical recommendations they can connect to their business requirements, along with clearer handovers and practical knowledge of the technologies implemented
