About the role
MongoDB is on the lookout for talented professionals to join our Pre-Sales team, where the focus is on aligning our advanced technical capabilities with the unique needs of our customers. This role involves close collaboration with clients to design and implement robust systems utilizing our data platform, MongoDB Atlas. As a Senior Solutions Architect, you will be instrumental in supporting sales initiatives and ensuring customer satisfaction through your technical insights.

What you'll do
- Architect and develop scalable applications and infrastructure tailored for significant software projects leveraging MongoDB.
- Provide expert advice to clients on architectural frameworks and optimization techniques, effectively communicating the business advantages of our solutions to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to drive account success through strategic planning and technical discovery, including live demonstrations and presentations.
- Cultivate demand within your designated sales territory by initiating proactive technical initiatives and participating in industry-related events.
- Foster strong relationships with clients to guarantee their success and overall satisfaction with our solutions.
- Continuously identify opportunities for enhancing MongoDB solutions and processes, while mentoring fellow team members in best practices.
- Engage in ongoing career development to remain informed about MongoDB products and the latest industry trends.
- Participate in the development of technical documentation and resources to support sales efforts and customer education.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 to 11 years of experience in a customer-facing capacity, with 5 to 7 years specifically in pre-sales for enterprise software solutions.
- At least 3 years of experience working with modern scripting languages (such as Python, Node.js, SQL) or widely-used programming languages (including C/C++, Java, C#).
- Demonstrated experience in designing scalable and highly available distributed systems, both in cloud environments and on-premises setups.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate existing application architectures and provide actionable recommendations for technological improvements.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, capable of simplifying complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with sales teams to create multi-faceted account strategies that align MongoDB resources with customer objectives.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
Nice to have
- Experience in database sales or application deployment across major cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with database programming and data modeling principles.
- Background in data engineering or projects related to AI/ML.
- Experience in modernizing legacy systems into contemporary technology stacks.
- Understanding of sales methodologies such as MEDDPICC or Command of the Message.
- MongoDB Certification and/or Cloud Provider Certification would be advantageous.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in MongoDB and its core functionalities.
- Familiarity with cloud services and technologies from leading providers.
- Understanding of complementary technologies, including Apache Kafka and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of contemporary architectural design patterns and methodologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and engage with clients.

MongoDB provides a competitive salary range for this role in Canada, which falls between $130,000 and $180,000 CAD. Compensation is customized for each candidate based on their skills, experience, and geographical location.
