Role Description The Set-Up Process Technician with supervisory responsibilities is a full-time, on-site role based in Ajax, ON. This role is responsible for setting up and adjusting injection moulding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling to meet production requirements, while monitoring process parameters to ensure product quality and consistency. The technician oversees start-up and shutdown procedures, troubleshoots equipment and process issues, and collaborates with engineering and production teams to implement process improvements.
In addition, this role provides day-to-day guidance to production staff, supports training on proper set-up and safety procedures, and helps coordinate workflows to meet scheduling and output targets. Accurate documentation of set-ups, process changes,
and maintenance activities is an important part of the role.
Qualifications
Experience with injection moulding machine set-up, tooling changes, and process optimization in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of plastic materials, mould design basics, and production parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time) relevant to injection moulding.
Ability to supervise and guide production team members, including supporting training, workflow coordination, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, process, and quality issues, with a focus on root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Comfort with reading technical drawings, work instructions, and production documentation, and maintaining accurate records of set-ups and changes.
Understanding of health and safety practices in manufacturing, including protected equipment operation and use of personal protective equipment.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams.
Previous experience in plastics manufacturing or injection moulding and familiarity with lean or similar continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or diploma in manufacturing, plastics technology, or a related field is an asset.
