Our client in the professional services sector is seeking a contract based SharePoint Migration & Intranet Solutions Consultant to lead the migration, redesign, and modernization of its corporate SharePoint environment.

This role combines business engagement, user experience design, information architecture, and SharePoint implementation to deliver a modern, intuitive, and well-governed intranet that improves employee collaboration and communication.

Duration: 6 months to start (possible extension)

Location: Occasional client visit in Greater Toronto Area

Responsibilities

- Lead the migration of content from legacy SharePoint environments to modern SharePoint Online.
- Assess the existing intranet and recommend improvements to information architecture, navigation, governance, and usability.
- Redesign the corporate intranet to improve employee experience, engagement, and accessibility.
- Gather business and user requirements through workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings.
- Create wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and site layouts to communicate proposed solutions.
- Design custom SharePoint page layouts, branding, and user experiences using modern SharePoint capabilities.
- Develop and configure SharePoint Online sites, pages, document libraries, lists, metadata, and permissions.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, communications teams, and IT to ensure solutions meet organizational needs.
- Develop migration plans, content inventories, validation processes, and cutover activities.
- Provide governance recommendations, content management standards, and best practices.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), training, documentation,



and post-implementation support.
- Ensure solutions follow Microsoft 365 best practices for security, accessibility, and performance.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience delivering SharePoint Online implementations and migrations.
- Proven experience leading SharePoint intranet redesign and modernization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of SharePoint Online architecture, modern sites, communication sites, and hub sites.
- Experience designing wireframes, user journeys, page layouts, and information architecture.
- Strong UI/UX design skills with the ability to create intuitive employee experiences.
- Experience with custom SharePoint branding, layouts, and design using up-to-date SharePoint capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive, and related collaboration technologies.
- Experience with SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager) is an asset.
- Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) is considered an asset.
- Experience working in enterprise environments with structured governance and change management practices.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Microsoft Viva Connections or Viva Suite.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design.
- Experience developing intranet governance frameworks and content lifecycle processes.
- Microsoft 365 or SharePoint certifications.
- Experience working with corporate communications, employee experience, or digital workplace initiatives.
