SUMMARY Levitt-Safety is currently recruiting a Shop Technician to perform Fire Services to train and work in the inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers, and Fire and Life safety equipment for our customer base in Sudbury and Northwestern Ontario. The responsibilities for this position will be split at approximately 80% performing inside shop technician duties, 15% assisting in providing mobile service work on customer sites, and 5% performing other duties as needed.
We are willing to train the right candidate who is willing to grow and pursue a career in fire and life protection services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Train to perform Hydro-Testing of both low and high pressure extinguishers and cylinders as required
Filling and repairing extinguishers and cylinders as needed
Maintaining shop equipment and working with the Service Supervisor for repairs as needed
Ensuring safe use of all shop tools and equipment including use of company service vehicle
Timely and accurate completion and submission of paperwork
Participate in mandatory safety training and industry certifications
Provide warranty repair and service as necessary
Provide field assistance to outside technicians as required
Fit Testing services both in house and at customer sites as required
Pickup and delivery of service work and completed jobs as required
Work under the guidance of the Ontario Service Manager, Sudbury Service Supervisor, and Service Coordinator assigned
Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in a shop environment, an asset
Mechanical aptitude with a background in troubleshooting equipment is ideal
This is a physically demanding and safety-sensitive role involving various types of equipment and work environments. As such the following are core requirements for this role: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, coupled with valuable hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity Physically able to work in restricted or confined workspaces, including using ladders and walkways on large equipment Able to pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol testing as well as criminal background checks Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required as part of our pre-employment checks, subject to requirements for accommodation.
