tldr; hit me up if you're a Solutions Engineer, Launch Engineer, or Solutions Architect with 5+ years in ecommerce either in the agency space, or at Shopify directly.
ABOUT US Tomorrow Studios is a specialized Shopify design and development agency based in Vancouver, BC. We design, build, and optimize ecommerce stores across the Shopify ecosystem, from custom themes and Shopify Plus builds to B2B wholesale, point of sale, and store migrations off platforms like WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Magento. We are a small, senior team, and we keep the client list short on purpose: our clients get close collaboration and direct access to the people doing the work.
Every project is grounded in brand clarity, user experience, and performance, and we treat every storefront we ship as a core business asset. THE ROLE As a Shopify Solutions Engineer, you own the technical side of scoping projects, working across pre-sales and delivery. Roughly two thirds of your time sits ahead of the sale.
You run technical discovery, map the merchant's current systems, decide the Shopify architecture, judge what is feasible, and produce the estimate and the technical specification. The commercial decision and the final pricing is decided based off the work you do. The other third sits inside delivery.
You are the technical counterpart to our delivery lead. They own the client relationship, the timeline, and coordination. You own technical direction, and you are the person our developers escalate to.
WHAT YOU WILL DO - Run technical discovery calls with merchants and surface the requirements they have not told you about yet.
- Design Shopify architecture across the stack, and decide when to use a native feature, an app, a Shopify Function, or custom code. Choosing the cheapest correct option is most of the job.
- Own data migration strategy: product and variant modelling, customer and order history,
redirect and search continuity, payments, tax, and inventory.
- Scope integrations against ERPs, accounting systems, fulfillment, point of sale, and third-party services.
- Produce effort estimates and technical specifications a developer can build against.
- Build the playbooks we run on: reusable scoping templates, estimating norms, and architecture patterns.
- Set technical direction on live projects and act as the escalation point for the delivery team. YOUR BACKGROUND We're looking for someone that's done the work before, in one of two places. Either you have run Shopify migrations at an agency, owning discovery, architecture, and estimates on replatforms from WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, or legacy systems. Or you have done it at Shopify itself, in a role like Solutions Engineer, Launch Engineer, or Solutions Architect. We're looking for five or more years in ecommerce, and real migrations experience. WHAT WE NEED ON DAY ONE - You can look at a legacy store's data model, integrations, and APIs and reason clearly about how they map onto Shopify's object model.
- You have scoped and estimated real migrations, and you know where your past estimates were wrong.
- You run a discovery call without a script, and you ask before you propose.
- You can explain a technical tradeoff to a merchant who does not write code, cleanly enough that they can make a decision on it.
- You write well. Specifications, scope, and estimates are a large part of the output. WHAT WE'LL TEACH YOU Our estimating norms, our templates, and how we price. Also the parts of Shopify you have not touched. If you have architected commerce migrations on another platform and know Shopify reasonably well, we would rather hire your judgment and fill the gaps.
COMPENSATION AND LOCATION $140,000 - $175,000 CAD. This is on-target earnings, depending on depth of migration architecture experience. Remote, anywhere in Canada, working PST/EST.
