SEC maintains its head office in Newmarket and provides public service signature expertise for immigrants, newcomers, early learning and development, Family Justice Service, Career and Labour market integration through programs such as Supervised Parenting Time, EarlyOn Child & Family Centres, Welcome Centre for Immigrant Services-Newmarket and several Before & After School and Licensed Childcare Programs.

The Opportunity: As Site Observer for the York Region Supervised Parenting Time Program you will provide a key role in providing a safe, child-focused, and neutral environment where parents or other family members can visit with their child(ren). In addition, the program offers a secure location for supervised exchanges, allowing child(ren) to be safely transferred between a residential party and a visiting party, or between parties who share joint decision-making responsibilities for the child(ren).





Your role ensures the delivery of high-quality services aligned with the objectives of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and in compliance with all legal, ethical, and non-conflict guidelines. You will demonstrate leadership by upholding the organization’s values, principles, and goals, while helping to create a safe, respectful, and positive experience for all children and families involved.

Key Job Responsibilities: Maintain full compliance to all Social Enterprise for Canada (SEC) policies, procedures, and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services’ service objectives for Supervised Parenting Time Programs

Support and provide direction to adults and children involved in high-conflict family situations

Adhere to all program requirements and protocols consistently

Demonstrate confidence and assertiveness while consistently maintaining a respectful, professional, and impartial approach

Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Effectively multitask while performing observations, active listening, and documentation during parenting time visits

Prepare clear, concise, and objective documentation that is both accurate and timely, for use in client files and potential court proceedings.

Exhibit a sound understanding of family dynamics and demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions

Remain highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold standards of non-harassment and other organizational policies

Demonstrate advanced computer proficiency and strong time management skills in a quick-paced environment.

Candidate Profile:



Commitment to a part-time role with rotating scheduled hours as needed to support program operations

Minimum availability of two full operational weekends per month is required

Program operates 36 weekends per year and are closed on all statutory holiday weekends

Travel between program sites may be required Must be physically able to perform tasks such as packing, lifting, walking, setting up physical space, and assisting children as needed

Comfortable with prolonged periods of typing and writing

Capable of sustained, focused observation of families throughout visits

Required to attend mandatory staff trainings as scheduled by the program Vulnerable Sector Screen Individuals employed within the Organization are required to submit a VSS every four (4) years of employment. An annual declaration will be required to be signed and absence of criminal offences, charges and convictions are a requirement of employment.

First

Aid and CPR All staff are required to obtain and maintain certification in Standard First Aid and CPR (minimum Level A) as a condition of employment. Driver’s License A valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation is required for this position. Any changes to your driving status or access to transportation must be reported to your supervisor immediately.

Health & Safety You have a general duty to take responsibility for personal health and safety, which means you should comply with all policies and procedures in place for your designated site and program.
