Pondering Paradise – Water Feature & Landscape Construction

Full-Time or Part-Time

$23–$32/hour, based on experience and ability

Pondering Paradise is looking for a few reliable, hard-working people to join our growing team.

We specialize in the construction and restoration of ponds, natural swimming ponds, waterfalls, streams, wetlands, drainage and water-management systems, and unique landscape projects.

Our work involves excavation, stonework, plumbing, grading, equipment operation, DC electrical work, and hands-on construction. Our projects range from smaller residential water features to large, custom pond and landscape installations.

We are also entering an exciting period of growth. We are currently developing a new retail location and storefront that will include greenhouses, koi sales, pond and water-garden products, and the manufacturing of fountains and other water features. As our existing client base continues to grow, we are expanding both the construction and retail sides of Pondering Paradise. So we are also looking for people who want to help grow with us!

This is not a position where you will sit in a machine all day. We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating equipment and then jumping out of the machine to work alongside the rest of the crew. The right person will enjoy variety, working outdoors, building things, solving problems, and seeing a project through from excavation to completion. Our projects bring together skills from every trade.

What you’ll be doing

- Operating mini excavators, skid steers, and other compact construction equipment
- Excavation, grading, trenching, and material placement
- Moving and setting stone and boulders
- Pond, waterfall, stream, wetland, and landscape construction
- Installing pipe, drainage, and water-management systems
- Site preparation and cleanup
- Loading and unloading equipment and materials
- General construction and physical labour




- Assisting with a wide variety of projects as our company continues to grow
- Working outdoors in changing weather and site conditions

What we’re looking for:
- Experience operating excavators and/or skid steers is strongly preferred
- Construction, landscaping, excavation, hardscape, or similar experience is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Comfortable working around trucks, trailers, machinery, and construction equipment
- Physically capable of performing construction labour
- Able to safely lift and move construction materials
- Reliable and able to show up on time
- Willing to learn and take direction
- Able to work independently once a task is understood
- Good problem-solving ability and common sense on a construction site
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a crew
- Attention to detail – much of our work is highly finished and visible
- Safety-conscious and respectful of equipment, customers, properties, and job sites

Room to Grow We are looking for someone who wants more than just a temporary labour job. There is significant opportunity to develop your skills in equipment operation, excavation, water-feature construction, plumbing, stonework, grading, and project installation.

As Pondering Paradise continues to expand into retail, koi, greenhouse operations, pond products, and fountain manufacturing, there will also be opportunities for the right person to develop skills and take on responsibilities in other areas of the business.

For someone who demonstrates solid ability, reliability, and initiative, there is an prospect to take on increasing responsibility and potentially grow into a lead operator, crew leader, or other senior role within the company.

Pay ranges from $23–$32/hour based on experience, equipment operating ability, and overall construction skill.

Full-time or part time positions are available.
