We need an autonomous, highly independent engineer with deep expertise in C# and legacy healthcare standards. You will operate with high agency—owning critical legacy pipelines, tearing down tech debt, and building the bridges between ancient databases and modern tech.

You won't be hand-held. You’ll be given full autonomy to diagnose failures, refactor spaghetti code, and enforce system reliability without having to ask three managers for approval first.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate Autonomously: Diagnose, debug, and overhaul legacy C# codebases (.NET Framework, WCF, ASP.NET Web Forms) with full ownership of your technical decisions.
- Master the Data Feeds: Own and fix legacy data pipelines handling HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, ORM), DICOM, or X12 EDI messages.
- Tear Down Tech Debt: Refactor bloated T-SQL stored procedures, optimize broken indexes, and build fast, clean API wrappers around legacy databases.
- Bridge the Old & The New: Hook up ancient monoliths to modern standards (HL7 FHIR, cloud pipelines) on your own terms.
- Protect Patient Privacy: Ensure bulletproof data handling under HIPAA—not because a manager told you to, but because doing it right protects real human beings.

Qualifications & Requirements

- 5+ years of backend/full-stack development experience in C# / .NET.
- Deep hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x or similar legacy health standards.
- Strong proficiency in MS SQL Server (T-SQL, query optimization, indexing).
- Location & Travel Flexibility: Primarily 100% Remote, but must be willing/able to travel on-site occasionally when strictly required for security protocols, hardware integrations, or air-gapped system compliance audits.
