About Edulux

Edulux provides private one-on-one tutoring to families across Ontario and Quebec. Our tutors are certified teachers, master's holders, and PhD holders, and that is the whole premise of the company.

We are hiring experienced STEM tutors for the 2026-2027 school year, primarily for high school Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

What you will do

- Teach one-on-one sessions, in person or online, with high school students in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
- Work from the student's actual curriculum, Ontario or Quebec, on the material they are covering in class right now
- Identify where a student is losing marks and address the cause, not only the symptom
- Submit one short written progress report per student every week (details below)

Qualifications

We are looking for one of the following:

- A certified teacher with classroom experience, holding a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in education
- A master's degree holder in a related field (math, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, health sciences, or similar)
- A PhD holder in a related field

You should also have:
- Demonstrated experience teaching or tutoring at the high school level
- Familiarity with the Ontario curriculum, the Quebec MEES progression of learning, or both




- Reliability with a weekly written commitment (see below)
- Comfort teaching either in person or over Zoom

The weekly progress report

Every Edulux family receives a written progress report every week. This is part of what they pay for, and it is a firm requirement of the role, not an optional extra.

Due every Saturday by 8:00pm, for each student you taught that week. We review it and send it to the parent on Sunday evening.

Format: four lines, under 100 words.

- COVERED - what you worked on, named the way it appears in the student's coursework
- GAP - one thing still catching the student out, described as a specific error pattern
- IMPROVED - one specific thing that is better than it was
- NEXT - what is coming next week, plus any date that matters

Details

- Pay: $25 to $35 per hour, based on credentials and experience
- Hours: adaptable, based on your availability and student demand. Most tutors take two to six students.
- Location: Ottawa / Gatineau, in person or online
- Start: September 2026
