Role Description The System Mechanical Engineer is a full-time, in office role based in Montreal, QC. In this position, the engineer contributes to the mechanical design and analysis of railway rolling stock systems, including car structures, interiors, and related equipment. Daily responsibilities include developing and reviewing mechanical designs, performing calculations, and preparing technical documentation and drawings using CAD tools.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting research and development activities, and providing engineering input during inspections and troubleshooting of mechanical issues. The engineer also assists in managing project timelines, coordinating with clients,



and ensuring that designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience in rail vehicles or heavy equipment preferred.

Mechanical design skills, including Machine Design and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for structural and component layouts.

Ability to lead and coordinate tasks using Project Management skills, including planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.

Experience in Research and Development (R&D;), including problem-solving, prototyping, and testing of mechanical systems.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced degrees are an asset.

Proficiency with relevant CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and familiarity with engineering analysis tools.

Knowledge of applicable industry standards and safety regulations for railway rolling stock.

Strong technical writing and communication skills for reports, specifications, and client interactions.

Ability to work on-site, perform field inspections, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Professional engineering licensure or eligibility for licensure in Canada is considered an advantage.
