The UAS Operations & Training Specialist – Defence serves as a trusted technical and operational ambassador for Draganfly’s UAS platforms.

This role bridges sales, product experience, and end users by delivering expert flight demonstrations, customer training, technical field support, and operational guidance. You will work directly with military, government, defence-industry partners, strategic accounts, and internal teams to ensure customers experience Draganfly solutions at their highest potential—from initial demonstration through early adoption and operational readiness. This is a remote role that requires 50–70% travel across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Lead in-person and virtual UAS demonstrations, customer engagements, and operational evaluations for military, government, defence-industry partners, and strategic accounts.

Serve as a subject matter expert on Draganfly platforms, payloads, mission systems, applications, and operational use cases while continuously improving demonstration and operational playbooks.

Conduct compliant UAS operations, including mission planning, site assessments, risk assessments, flight execution, operational briefings, testing, and special projects.

Maintain, configure, inspect, troubleshoot, and perform field-level maintenance on aircraft, payloads, controllers, communications systems, software, and demonstration equipment to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance.

Deliver customer, partner, reseller, and internal training programs, including hands-on instruction, virtual training, and the development of guides, checklists, presentations, and other training resources.

Support customer onboarding and operational readiness activities to enable successful system adoption and independent operation.

Collaborate with Sales on technical discovery, customer qualification, demonstrations, proposals, presentations, and bid responses.

Capture and communicate customer feedback, operational lessons learned, feature requests, and recurring technical issues to support continuous product and process improvement.

Represent Draganfly at trade shows, industry events, customer engagements, demonstrations, and defence-related activities.

Coordinate event and field logistics, including equipment preparation, shipping, inventory management, setup, teardown, and technical support. Who are you really?

You are adaptable, flexible, and comfortable operating in dynamic field environments.

You are dependable, organized, and capable of managing multiple customer engagements, equipment sets, and priorities.

You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.

You are detail-oriented, analytical, and focused on safe, professional, and efficient operations.

You are comfortable working independently while remaining closely coordinated with internal teams.

You enjoy operating technology, teaching others, solving problems, and working directly with customers.

You thrive in collaborative environments and are comfortable mentoring and developing others. Qualifications

Transport Canada RPAS Pilot Certificate (Advanced Operations), or the ability to obtain it within an established period following hire.

4+ years of experience in UAS/RPAS operations, military aviation, technical training, field support, defence systems, or a comparable operational environment.

Strong experience planning, executing, troubleshooting, and supporting UAS operations, including flight safety, operational risk management, mission planning, and field operations.

Practical experience configuring, operating, and maintaining UAS platforms, payloads, mission systems, and associated equipment.

Ability to communicate technical information effectively to customers and stakeholders with varying levels of expertise.

Comfortable travelling approximately 50-70% across Canada.

Familiarity with MAVLink-based UAS and ground-control software is considered an asset.

Proficiency with Teams, SharePoint, HubSpot, and similar business platforms.
