This position is responsible to supervise and support clients in residence, as well as work alongside the treatment team and Intake worker during their assigned shift.RESPONSIBILITIES
Appropriately model healthy life skills and socialization to clientsProvide support to clients in residence and ensure guidelines are followedProcess client belongings on discharge, & provide support to former clients by telephoneOrient new clients to the residential floorsManage the safety and security of the residential treatment floors after office hours, including supporting Residential Care staff in case of emergency - where neededManage interpersonal crisis and conflict situations among clientsManage behavior modification strategies with clients (positive and negative consequences, warnings and discharges)
in consultation with team and supervisorEffectively and safely manage distribution of client medicationsSupervise client urine screens, bag checks and othersConduct searches of client belongings and rooms in accordance with policyServe meals & perform housekeeping duties, ie. stock suppliesTrain, assign and supervise client choresReview and complete clerical duties as necessaryProvide transparent and objective reports and documentation regarding client observations and interactions provide support and leadership to floor counsellor teamassist program coordinator with floor counsellor scheduling, interviewing, payroll and floor counsellor team coordinationMaintain ongoing communication with other members of the treatment teamAttend and participate in team meetings and case conferencesProvide Intake supportProvide class coverage and programming support as requiredESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma or degree in one of the human services professions;
preferably social workEducation and experience in working with men with addiction and mental health issuesExcellent oral and written communication skillsEducation and experience in basic counseling skills, and knowledge of Abstinence Based Model of TreatmentDiversity awareness and appreciationStrong interpersonal and teamwork skillsFirst Aid/CPR Certification,
WHMIS training and Non-violent Crisis Intervention training an assetA Vulnerable Sector Screen that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army at its sole discretionProficient with Windows based computer systems, MS Word, e-mail and data entry, CatalystCompensation
The target hiring range for this position is $21.28 to $26.60 with a maximum of $31.92.
