Overview

AECOM is seeking a BIM Specialist to join our Canada Region within the Transportation Business Line. This role is hybrid and based out of our Mississauga AECOM office or any of our Central Canadian offices.

AECOM Canada is a Centre of Excellence for project delivery in North America and participates in numerous major projects in Canada, either as the Owner’s Engineer/Technical Advisor or as the Constructor's Engineer of Record during execution and implementation of the project. We are embracing our BIM team to spearhead Building Information Modeling initiatives within complex infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge in BIM management, data management, software integrations, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital twins, while ensuring ISO 19650 compliance. This role drives the digital transformation of design, construction, and operational processes to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and innovation across multidisciplinary teams.

The role offers opportunities to collaborate with the wider Canada Region Digital team within the Transportation Business Line and with other lines to advance and reinforce AECOM’s global digital strategies in the Canadian region.

The appropriately qualified applicant will demonstrate a positive attitude, customer focus, critical thinking, and a problem-solving approach, ready to apply and share ideas using principles and methods for AEC Design and Digital Consulting projects. This is a newly created role.

Responsibilities

- Develop and implement comprehensive BIM strategies for projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry best practices (P3 projects).
- Contribute to BIM processes across project stages from conceptual design to coordination, construction, and operational handover.




- Facilitate integration of BIM technologies with project requirements through AI and digital twins to optimize outcomes, predictive analytics, and scenario planning.
- Champion the use of metaverse-enabled immersive stakeholder engagement, virtual collaboration, and enhanced project visualization.
- Ensure robust data management practices, including secure and efficient data exchange across platforms and stakeholders, adhering to ISO 19650 standards.
- Oversee API integrations between BIM software and other enterprise systems to streamline workflows and improve data consistency.
- Act as an intermediary between designers, partners, and contractors to maintain project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Engage with teams by providing BIM subject matter expertise on Alternative Delivery Projects and Enterprise Critical Pursuits.
- Collaborate with BIM leads, BIM specialists, and BIM coordinators across all aspects of producing project information.
- Ensure BIM execution plans are produced, followed, and maintained for each project.
- Train or upskill colleagues in specific software programs, especially Civil 3D.
- Support the implementation of digital information plans and strategies.
- Maintain working knowledge of ISO 19650 standards and related BIM standards.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with 6 years of relevant experience or Technical Diploma with 8 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency, including BIM Specialist experience in the AEC space.
- 3+ years experience in BIM implementation and/or delivery on large-scale, multi-disciplinary P3 projects.
- 3+ years experience working with multi-discipline design projects using Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- 3+ years experience with Revit.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with automated design using Power BI, Dynamo, Orkestra, and Grasshopper.




- Experience with CAD and GIS technologies.
- 3 years experience with Civil 3D.
- Integration (API microservices).
- Data management.
- Critical thinking to identify issues, propose solutions, and ensure completion.
