Job Description Executive Director – BCCGAJob Title: Executive DirectorLocation: RemoteTerms: ContractSalary/Rate: $100 000 - $125 000 annuallyAbout Us:The BC Common Ground Alliance is a non-profit organization established to lead development of consistent practices and coordination of activities to ensure the highest possible standards of worker safety, public safety and damage prevention in connection with underground infrastructure.About the Role:The Executive Director will be responsible for driving membership engagement and growth, ensuring BCCGA delivers value to its stakeholders and members. This is a public-facing role and will require credibility, and communication skills to build relationships and expand the reach of BCCGA.Mandate:Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will expand the impact of the organization through the execution of three strategic priorities:Ensure organizational sustainability through financial stewardship, talent succession, and knowledge transferIncrease stakeholder engagementThe Executive Director will engage with members to identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships and will work with the Board on strategic planning.With a strong hands-on component, this role will require strong stakeholder engagement; being out in the community, meeting with government, and expanding membership.Www.Commongroundbc.Ca Damage Prevention Starts HereResponsibilities:Leadership and Stakeholder Relations:Enhance the strategic profile of BCCGA; expand the impactthrough action-oriented visibility.Maintain and build a network of influence and understanding with a variety of stakeholders.Increase credibility and visibility with municipal and provincial council, regulators, and other agencies.Build awareness of the opportunity for government and BCCGA to partner.Guide overall strategic direction and operations; develop and manage an accountability framework to evaluate progress.Stay abreast of the broader environment, as well as processes, policies, and programs.Advance the vision, mission and strategic direction of the BCCGAConduct strategic and tactical planningImprove & manage Social Media Presence and EngagementGuide and support all BCCGA stakeholdersRepresent the BCCGA at conferences, workshops, symposia and other eventsPromote the BCCGA and the Dig Safe message in a variety of venuesNetwork with industry clients and stakeholdersOrganizational Management:Manage all aspects of the business operationsSupport the Board of Directors and board committeesDrive, manage and support, at the municipal and provincial levels, the prime multi-stakeholder for the BCCGA Business objectivesRecruit and manage staffDevelop annual work plans and budgetsAdminister BCCGA fundsPlan and run annual BCCGA events throughout the yearManage industry volunteersGrowth:Increase and maintain membership per annual budget targetsIncrease and retain sponsorship per annual budget targetsRaise funds for BCCGA special projectswww.Commongroundbc.Ca Damage Prevention Starts HerePublic Affairs:Develop and manage integrated measurable strategic affairs planAssist stakeholders with BCCGA Dig Safe curriculum developmentEnsure quality control and protection is in place on BCCGA publications and all other intellectual propertyGovernment Relations:Implement and direct plans,



strategies and programs specifically designed to positively influence government and public policyDevelop and implement strategies for communication between the BCCGA, industry stakeholders and the Canadian Common Ground Alliance (CCGA)Identify key policy issues and provide strategic advice on the issuesIndustry Contacts:Internal:BCCGA Board of DirectorsFuture BCCGA staff as requiredExternal:Industry Presidents, VPs, Directors and ManagersIndustry Association Presidents, VPs, Directors and ManagersSafety Chain StakeholdersClients and PublicGovernment Agency Area District Managers and their reportsNorth American Trade AssociationsNorth American Safety AssociationsMembership:Effectively engage with members; understand memberneedsand concerns.Enhance service delivery with shareholders and members.Www.Commongroundbc.Ca Damage Prevention Starts HereFinancial and Human Resources Management:Safeguard the financial health of the organization; identify, assess,and mitigate financial risk.Coordinate and oversee the annual budget proposal process, monthly and quarterly reviews, annual audit, and periodic forecast updates for presentation to the Board of Directors.Identify and anticipate opportunities and challenges as they relate to financial matters; generate ideas, strategies, and solutions to drive financial impact.Determine the staff complement necessary to achieve objectives set by the Board of DirectorsCommunication and Media RelationsOversee the development and maintenance of the BCCGA's brand identity, ensuring that it reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values.Handle overall communications, including media relationsManage BCCGA website and social mediaImplement strategies to enhance awareness, visibility, and reputation.Responsible for the preparation and distribution of news releases I.E. BCCGA Social Media platforms, updating websiteEnsure all communication is transparent, consistent, and aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values.Attend and represent BCCGA and the interests of the organization at relevant conferences, engagements, and events.Act as the spokesperson for BCCGA, as required.The Individual:The ideal candidate is a hands-on, team-oriented, autonomous and service-oriented leader.You have demonstrated the ability to build and cultivate strategic and productive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including government.You bring a track record of working with tact and diplomacy to achieve a common goal and have a strong appreciation of the needs of a member-focused organizationwww.Commongroundbc.Ca Damage Prevention Starts HereRequired Experience and Skills:A relevant post-secondary degree, or a relevant professional designation.Senior leadership experience in an advocacy related role, and/or association management expertise.Strong understanding of a safety-oriented industry.Experience with, and/or knowledge of membership growth and retention.Demonstrated stakeholder and government relations expertise,



coupled with the knowledge of driving brand and market awareness.Solid understanding of the nuances and drivers when managing risk while operating in a safety focused context.Proven expertise guiding and building a cohesive culture in achieving results and providing a service.Experience serving a Board of Directors and knowledge of best practices in governance.Ability to communicate effectively to a broad range of audiences (e.G., Board of Directors, stakeholders, members, government officials, regulatory bodies, and other related partners).Has an appreciation for both current and future organizational needs.
