Communications Assistant – Full TimeTuesday to Saturday I 37.5 hours per week I 9:00am-5pmReporting to the Manager of Communications, the Communications Assistant is a people person passionate about elevating Calgary Humane Society's brand in the community and is integral to the success of the Communications team in advocating for animal welfare. This assistant role works collaboratively with CHS' Graphic Designer, Digital and Website Specialist, and Community Outreach Team.Duties:Gather content for internal and external communications including animal photos and videos, story collection, interviews, and post-adoption information.Create design assets for various campaigns and merchandise.Assist with social media channels, including scheduling posts and replying to direct messages and comments.Working with team members to create video content for animal profiles, storytelling, and signature events.Engage with the community at outreach events by providing information about Calgary Humane Society programs and initiatives, including special events, volunteering, animals available for adoption, upcoming adoption events, and third-party fundraising initiatives.Provide support preparing for organization signature events such as the annual walk/run and fundraising gala alongside the Outreach and Communications team.Promote a culture of volunteer engagement by building and maintaining relationships with both Communications and Outreach volunteers, and participating in volunteer recognition, engagement, and teamwork.Maintain a culture of positivity and openness through face-to-face communication, active listening, and collaboration.Assist in other departments as needed such as Reception,



Adoption and Animal Care.Position Requirements:Minimum high school diploma.Ability to attend shifts onsite.Independent worker with strong organizational skills.Strong videography and photography skills using a DSLR required.Beginner level proficiency in Adobe programs considered an asset.One to two years' experience providing administrative and/or other support within the not-for-profit sector considered an asset.Collaborative mindset and a willingness to contribute to the Outreach and Communications teams wherever possible.Comfortable being on camera, including social media, live on-air, and pre-taped interviews.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing (a written competency assessment may be included as part of the interview process).Passion for animal welfare and a deep understanding of Calgary Humane Society's mission and values.Robust interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Ability to work as part of a team or independently as required.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingThis position will work Tuesday through Saturday with flexible hours as assigned by the Manager of Communications.Must be able to provide a 3-year clean driver's abstract.Successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check at their own expense to be arranged by CHS.Able to safely and comfortably handle a variety of species including but not limited to cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, rodents, reptiles, and other species.Flexibility to work occasional overtime as required.Handling, moving, lifting, and pulling equipment and animals up to 40lbs.Repetitive motions of sitting reaching, lifting, squatting, bending, pullingAnnual Salary:$33,696.00Benefits & Perks:100% employer paid health and dental benefits for employees and their dependents.Annual Wellness Spending
