Overview Permanent Full Time. The Individual Wealth Technology team within Application Delivery, Canada and Lifeco is seeking a Director, Technical Solutions. This role is a match for you if you are passionate about Wealth and working with business and technology teams to innovate, define, and deliver high quality technology solutions.The Director, Technical Solutions is a highly experienced technology leader and mentor, tasked with overseeing the delivery and support of applications, spearheading recent technology projects, and enhancing key applications. In this role you will act as a trusted advisor to internal clients by proactively building relationships with business, technology, and external stakeholders. You will work closely with members of the Individual Wealth business and technology teams, with responsibility for people leadership and delivery leadership that are measured by the team’s collective ability to generate positive results for Canada Life’s business and clients.At our company, the customer is at the center of what we do. We care about the financial, physical, and mental well-being of our customers and our staff.What you will do The role mandate is to build partnerships with stakeholders in the business and technology functions to evolve (imagine new solutions), optimise (increase the impact of existing applications) and stabilise (resolve issues or escalated problems).Customer Relationship Management : Nurture relationships and collaboration. Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader to the business areas by proactively building relationships to understand the business’ current state, short and long-term priorities, ensuring open and ongoing communication to proactively address any issues. Partner with preferred vendors to understand product roadmaps, recommend new solutions and ideas to drive both customer and business outcomes. Ensure leaders and team members cut through siloes to work together towards common goals.Direct People Leadership : Model our culture and values. Lead and adapt to change; be an advocate for change and help minimize ambiguity for teams through change.Technology Delivery, Adoption, Support : Consult with architects, business leaders, and vendors on the best strategy, options, and technology roadmaps to meet client and business objectives. Directly collaborate with business stakeholders to prioritize incoming portfolio components. Support delivery execution of business technology projects and large work packages. Leverage technology; share knowledge by introducing the team to enabling technologies and frameworks to better manage the environment and gain measurable efficiencies. Support the continuous operation of applications and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and meeting business needs. Create and manage metrics dashboards to showcase productivity, costs, demand, supply and spend, using a data driven approach for decision making. Ensure applications’ availability and resources are aligned with current and future support needs through the development of roadmaps and use of metrics. Support business stakeholders by coordinating escalations to resolve user incidents. Keep current on industry technology direction and best practices.What you will bringA minimum of 10+ years’ related experience supporting technology platforms and delivering projects/products to enable businesses capabilitiesIdeal candidate has experience working with Wealth businesses and systems and maintains a strong knowledge of wealth products in the Canadian marketExperience managing through change, enabling an execution excellence culture and applying technology thought leadership to solve problemsExcellent leadership skills with the ability to hire, inspire, train/develop, performance manage and drive high employee engagementAbility to respond to and generate urgency, create clarity through ambiguity,
and pivot quickly when neededDemonstrated experience in challenging the status quo and identifying areas of improvement (across people, process, and technology)Preference and experience working in a complex environment that is rapidly evolving, with high expectations for excellence and achievementExcellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with all levels, technical and non-technical, within the organizationAble to be "hands-on" with support when needed, but also have a strategic / business mindsetPost-secondary degree/diploma in business or computer science or equivalent experienceThe base salary for this position is between$120,000.00 - $155,000.00annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.E. annual bonus, commission etc).
