We strive to create safe, healthy, and inclusive communities for all.ROLE PURPOSEThis position will provide casework and support to residents of Connective's programs to enhance their quality of life, to ensure the orderly and safe operation of the facility, and to maintain the goals of the counselling and/or rehabilitative plans.STATUS AND CLASSIFICATIONUnionized; this position requires union membership. This position is open to applicants of all genders.HOURSShift Hours:Morning: 0800 - 1600, 0830 - 1630Evening: 1600 - 0000, 1630 - 0030Overnight: 0000 - 0800, 0030 - 0830Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, of which seven are overnight shifts.If you are working full-time, or if you are a full-time student, we ask you for 15 shifts of availability per month of which five are overnight shifts (this is subject to employer or enrollment proof).REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPSReports and is accountable to the Program Manager or their designateParticipates as a member of the Connective services team to ensure quality and continuity of services to clientsLiaises with staff and volunteers of community and government agencies as requiredLiaises with Connective staff as necessaryAccepts clinical direction from the care teamParticipates as a member of the Connective staff teamKEY ACCOUNTABILITIESParticipates in the assessment, goal setting, and program planning - such as Personal Service Plans - for individuals living semi independently. Documents and implements the plan and provides input into the evaluation of the program.Evaluates client needs and develops short term plans to meet such needs with the active participation of residents and their families.Works directly with additional staff (i.E., Social Workers and Outreach Workers), community service and support providers, government and non-government organizations, and First Nations service providers to inform the development and implementation of individual support plans consistent with harm reduction and Connective's philosophies and practices.Assists residents to function more independently in their own homes and in the community. Assists residents with daily life skills, social skills, and/or behaviour management. Nurtures opportunities and assists residents with activities such as grooming,



basic cooking, money management, shopping, household safety, and pet care. Facilitates physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities.Recognizes, analyzes, and deals with potential emergency situations such as aggressive behaviour(s) to minimize potential harm to others and/or the public.Administers medication to residents in accordance with established policy.Ensures health and safety standards are maintainedMaintains oversight of the building as required to mitigate conflict amongst residents and/or other persons accessing the property.Completes regular and routine walk-through checks of the property and immediately surrounding area.Reviews and evaluates residents' progress and adjusts programs as required. Provides feedback and support to residents and/or their families.Accompanies and/or transports clients to activities such as appointments, shopping, or leisure activities.Maintains/provides either written and/or verbal reports regarding clients' daily activities and progress in accordance with policy and standards. Ensures that all required documentation is complete and accurate.Identifies social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational, and educational services in the community that will meet clients' needs. Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials, and the community.Along with the other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services.Provides input into meal scheduling and preparation, including food inventory.As assigned, organizes, executes, and oversees the preparation of meals and involves the residents in this process.Participates in team meetings as instructed by the Program Manager.Other duties as subsequently negotiated.WORKING CONDITIONSFunctions independently, while remaining a crucial member of the care teamAdheres to Connective's policies and proceduresIs available to work flexible schedule as needed, which may include some evenings/weekends,



as determined by program/client needs and schedulesIs a member of CUPE local 1936-11EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSGraduated with a Diploma in a related human/social service field and one-year of related experienceExperience with clients with a history of conflict with the law, developmental disabilities and/or spectrum disorders, experiencing homelessness, interaction with social agencies and experiencing mental health challengesExperience working with First Nation communitiesA demonstrated and clear ability to respond well in crisis situationsAn understanding of providing service to people with different learning abilitiesDemonstrated an ability to deal with potential violenceExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishREQUIREMENTSAbility to successfully complete a Criminal Records CheckCurrent Emergency First Aid CertificateWilling to complete Food Safe Certificate (Level 1)COMPENSATIONAs Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $27.53 per hour.
