Part-Time Community-Based Personal Support Worker (PSW) - Central Region

We are looking for awesome, self-driven Personal Support Workers to work throughout York Region. Please note, we are only looking to proceed with candidates who have part-time WEEKEND availability and meet the scheduling requirements below.

Scheduling Requirements

- Available for 12-hour shifts on Saturdays AND Sundays (Full and Part time Positions available)
- MUST be available Saturday and Sunday; flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred
- MUST be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future
- Available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day

Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans
- Provide companionship and light housekeeping (whatever it takes to help a person stay at home)
- Prepare meals in accordance with the client and/or the family's request (must be open to preparing different kinds of cuisine)
- Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker
- Assist clients in all activities of daily living / hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth
- Assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises
- Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly
- Function within the limits of own experience and knowledge,



and practice safely and competently within the job description
- Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly

Requirements

- MUST have a valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work
- Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas of work; an asset if you can travel to rural/remote areas
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
- PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or international nursing/doctoral certification
- Negative TB Test completed within the last year
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Valid WHMIS 2015 Certificate of Completion
- COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario's Human Rights Code
- Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and Diphtheria required; immunization for Hepatitis B strongly urged
- Valid Criminal Record Check completed within the last year
- Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed
- Requires good judgement, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team
- Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) Registration an asset
