About the OpportunityPayroll OperationsOversee end-to-end payroll processing for unionized and non-unionized staff across multiple legal entities, covering both weekly and bi-weekly pay cyclesCompute and validate regular earnings and special payments, including overtime, shift premiums, incentives, retro pay, vacation accruals, and statutory holiday entitlementsImplement payroll updates tied to hires, terminations, leaves, role changes, and other employee status changesBalance payroll outputs by reconciling payroll summaries to general ledger accountsGenerate and file required payroll documentation and reports, including ROEs, T4s, T4As, and internal payroll analysesPrepare and post monthly payroll-related journal entriesBenefits and Retirement ProgramsManage enrollment and ongoing administration of group benefit and insurance offeringsCoordinate retirement and savings plans such as RRSPs and defined contribution pension plansAct as the primary point of contact with benefits and pension providersReview and reconcile benefits invoices and related payroll deductionsAddress employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and retirement programsRegulatory ComplianceApply federal and provincial employment standards, including the Canada Labour Code and Ontario ESAEnsure adherence to CRA requirements and collective bargaining agreementsMaintain complete and accurate payroll and benefits records to support audits and reviewsSystems and ReportingMaintain accurate employee and payroll data within HRIS and payroll platformsInvestigate and resolve system-related issues and assist with system updates or implementationsExperience with Dayforce is considered a strong assetAbout You5+ years of full cycle payroll and benefits experienceMid-large size ERP experience is requiredUnion experienceComfortable being in a standalone role/wearing many hats at a small, growing companySalary Range$70,000 - $80,000 /yearThis position for employment is for a current vacancy with Highspring’s client.
