COMPENSATION ADVISOR
REGULAR FULL TIME - EXEMPT

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipalpolice agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, andassumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.SPS is working to redefine policing with innovative recent approaches andcommunity-based solutions. SurreyPolice Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunityfora Compensation Advisor tojoin our Human Resources Division,within the Corporate Services Bureau.Reportingto the Compensation and Advantages Manager, and as a key member of the HumanResources team, the Compensation Advisor provides expertise in unionized jobevaluation and classification. Working closely with key stakeholders, theCompensation Advisor will complete all stages of the union job evaluationprocess.

Schedule / Hours of Work

This is anon-site position and the anticipated schedulefor this position is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Please note, thehours are subject to change based on operational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Creatingand amending class specifications, including interviewing employees andmanagers to seek input.
- Conductingjob evaluation on new and existing jobs.
- Handlingreclassification requests.




- Actingas quality control for compensation review decisions.
- Communicatingoutcomes and rationale of job evaluations to unions, managers and staff.
- Participatingin and conducting compensation surveys.
- Participatingin the development and implementation of related policies and procedures.
- Supportingthe job review process for exempt positions.
- Contributingto compensation projects and initiatives.

- Ability to work collaboratively with unionrepresentatives to address compensation and job evaluation inquiries and/or issues.

- Ability to manage complex tasks under tightdeadlines.
- Ability to research, understand, and synthesizedata with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take initiativeand exercise good judgment.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Undergraduatedegree or diploma in a health or related field.
- Minimumof 5 years of directly related experience.
- Equivalenciesof education and experience may be considered.




- Allapplicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearancethroughout their employment with SPS,which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

The salary range for this position is $107,951 -$127,001 (Pay Band P2) based on 2024 Rates. Junior candidates may be consideredat a salary range of $89,817 - $105,667 (Pay Band P1).
