What you'll do
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections to ensure aircraft are ready for operation, checking for any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Assist with the fueling of aircraft, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed to prevent spills and accidents.
- Manage the loading and unloading of cargo and baggage, ensuring that weight and balance requirements are met for safe flight operations.
- Collaborate with pilots and other ground crew members to coordinate flight schedules and ensure timely departures and arrivals.
- Operate ground support equipment, including tugs and tow bars, to maneuver aircraft on the ramp safely.
- Monitor weather conditions and communicate any changes that may affect flight operations to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the flight line,
adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents on the flight line, following established protocols to ensure the safety of all personnel.
- Document all activities and inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements and company procedures.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of ground support equipment to ensure its reliability and safety.
- Foster a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with colleagues and contributing to a culture of safety and professionalism.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in aviation or related fields is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the aviation industry.
- Strong understanding of aircraft operations and safety protocols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and pilots.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to operate ground support vehicles.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends,
and holidays as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with ground handling.
Nice to have
- Certification in aviation safety or ground handling operations.
- Experience with specific aircraft types or ground support equipment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to aircraft operations and safety.
- Previous experience in customer service roles, enhancing communication skills with passengers and crew.
- Familiarity with basic aircraft maintenance procedures.
