You’ll be joining a dedicated team of 4 lawyers, legal assistants, and support staff.7 yrs, or more experience required.Generous fee split compensation program.Many opportunities for mentoring, growth, and advancement.Hybrid - remote, work at home except for client meetings or court appearances.Must have an active Law Society of BC license.LONG-TERM CONTRACT POSITION.This job would be a good fit for an associate who is looking to enhance their litigation and client management skills and learn how to gain the skills of building their own client base.Must have at least 7 years or more, combined experience in either Civil Litigation, Personal Injury or Family Law including some or all of the following:Civil Litigation: Experience handling complex litigation with confidence including civil matters such as:Corporate/shareholder and partnership disputesBuilders' liens, foreclosures, and insolvenciesDebt collection and loan agreements enforcementReal estate and property disputesMatters related to negligenceMatters related to defamationTort claimsFamily Law: Experience in handling complex family law with confidence including family law matters such as:Separation or divorceParenting arrangementsChild supportDivision of propertyChild protection and parental rightsGuardianship and adoptionRestraining orders and family violenceFamily disputesPersonal Injury Law: Experience handling complex litigation with confidence including such matters as:ICBC (motor vehicle) related litigationProduct liabilityWrongful DeathRecreational or other InjuriesDon't have a book of clients?No problem, we've got lots of work for you to do.How our generous fee-splitting compensation program works:Most law firms only give associate lawyers fee splits on files they bring to the firm. Our fee splitting program includes all the files you work on, whether you brought these files to the firm, or not.First, you'll be assigned a monthly billing target that's realistic for an Associate Lawyer with 7 or more years of experience.Second, all hours that you bill (and are collected) are divided between you and the firm with our generous fee splitting program.What you’ll be doing:On a day-to-day basis, you’ll navigate complex civil and family legal issues on behalf of our clients.1)



You’ll be responsible for advising our clients on their legal rights and obligations as a civil and family law barrister and solicitor.2) You’ll be responsible for representing both our civil and family law clients in litigation matters. This includes:Representing and guiding our clients through the process of legal proceedings, mediations, and court appearancesConducting legal research and analysisFiling applicationsDeveloping trial strategiesDrafting legal documents such as contracts and agreements, pleadings, motions and briefsMaintaining strong relationships with opposing counselMaking sure records of case progress and client communications are up to date and accurateEnsuring high standards of client communications and relationship buildingLeading settlement negotiations3) You’ll also be required to act as the project manager for the files you work on. This will include performing your own tasks with excellence, as well as assigning appropriate tasks to legal assistants and ensuring the tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner.Experience and qualifications you must have:At least 7 years, or more of experience post articles.Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Law Society of BC license.What you need to have to be a successful in this position: (and we’ll ask you about these things in your interviews)The ability to manage your time and focus on billable work.Strong customer service skills and the willingness to go above and beyond to maintain our high customer service standards.The ability to manage a client file with little or no supervision.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.The ability to approach legal issues methodically and devise strategic solutions.Ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Strong research skills and the ability to communicate complex legal issues to clients.We promote a healthy work environment for all our Associate Lawyers with billing targets in line with industry standards,
