Terms and Conditions

Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week). Weekends and overtime may be required.

Work Setting & Environment

Fruit and vegetable manufacturing and processing plant. Cold/refrigerated, wet/damp, noisy.

Job Requirements

- Languages: English
- Education: High school or equivalent
- Experience: 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Area of specialization: Material handling equipment, hydraulics, electronics, electrical and mechanical servicing and repair
- Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

- Handling heavy loads (up to 45 kg / 100 lbs)
- Physically demanding; standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling
- Fast-paced workplace with repetitive tasks
- Attention to detail; able to hear warning signals

Duties

- Maintain and perform daily preventive maintenance on material handling equipment (including forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)




- Maintain battery room and chargers, including charging and changing batteries for material handling equipment
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools
- Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, hand and power tools
- Maintain equipment rooms in a neat and orderly fashion
- Maintain appropriate levels of material handling equipment maintenance supplies
- Follow through and complete all work orders
- Design, implement, and review daily operator's checklist procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local guidelines, including OHS
- Perform other related duties as required
