Position Title: Team Lead, Windows Hosting Services* Leads daily meetings to prioritize alerts, determine resource requirements, schedule and assign/ reallocate work and resources; resolves conflicts; * Assesses plans, impacts and risks both initial and post-implementation; approves and coordinates all changes to supported HW and SW; leads the resolution ofissues and publishes changes to customers; * Monitors delivery and facilitates the resolution of SW vendor service level problems; * Assigns, reviewsand monitors work of staff; provides guidance, direction and technical assistance; * Diagnoses and resolvesescalated problems; appraises performance; monitors operational budget expenditures and identifies potential variances; * Develops, recommends and implements operational policies and procedures, migration strategies and procedures; * Leads continual expansion of automation to support customer facing services and internal processes.* Coordinates the tendering process to evaluate or acquire new technology; prepares specificationsand/ or negotiates contract terms with outside vendors or suppliers; verifies satisfactory contract performance.* Acts as project manager and provides functional direction to staff; * Liaises with stakeholders to analyze the application requirement(s) and determine impact on existing services; identifies costs,compatibility and support issues; designs implementation program; liaises with impacted areas to prioritize projects; obtains related approvals; * Plans project requirements, resources, schedules and responsibilities; assigns duties* Monitors and controls project process and resource usage; ensures compliance withstandards; * Schedules implementation into production; conducts post implementation review; confirms attainment of project goals; * Recommends HW and SW purchases; prepares languagefor or negotiates contracts for work performed by outside vendors or suppliers; verifies satisfactory contract completion.* Liaises with architect with respect to new technology directions and interfaces with existing systems and plans; * Plans and manages systems capacity/ performance and configurations; * Researches and evaluates the effectiveness of products and applicability of current server related HW and SW technology to the current cross-government Operational Systems shared infrastructure; analyses impact; determines changes required based on individual server/ types, application needs, etc. to support current/ future requirements; tests, selects, recommends and obtains approvals/ commitments from all applicable groups for planned server changes; * Provides input to the development of strategic business and IS Plans by senior management; * Defines, implements and monitors information systems security policies within the organization’s overall security policy.* University degree in Computing Science, or College Diploma in Computing Science, and a minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible experience in a computer operations environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.* 7+ years of progressive experience in Windows server administration in large enterprise environments (≥1,000 users / ≥50 servers).* 3+ years of team leadership or technical lead experience managing at least 3–8 technical staff.* Advanced expertise with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, DFS, IIS, and Microsoft networking protocols.* Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), storage (SAN/NAS), backup/DR, and monitoring/observability tools.* Proven delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects (budget > $300,000 or equivalent scope/complexity).* Working knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change) and ticketing tools (e.G., ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent).* Strong security mindset: hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, identity/access controls, and compliance practices.* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.* Experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, Arc, Azure AD/Entra ID, Hybrid Join, Azure Migrate).* Automation and scripting: PowerShell, DSC, Git-based workflows, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.* Experience with load balancing (e.G., F5, NGINX), web application firewalls, and certificate lifecycle management.* Exposure to SCOM, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar monitoring/alerting platforms.* Familiarity with Zero Trust principles, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and EDR/AV platforms.* ITIL Foundation, Microsoft or VMware certifications (e.G., MD-102, AZ-104, VCP), or PMP/PRINCE2.* Windows Server Administration:



Deep knowledge of Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, and newer), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Group Policy.* Hosting Technologies: IIS configuration and management, load balancing, SSL/TLS certificates.* Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, Microsoft networking protocols, VLANs, firewalls.* Virtualization & Cloud: VMware, Hyper-V, and experience with Azure or hybrid cloud hosting.* Storage & Backup: SAN/NAS, backup strategies, disaster recovery planning.* Security: Windows security hardening, patch management, compliance standards (e.G., ISO, NIST).* Monitoring & Performance: Tools like Dynatrace, SCOM, Nagios, or similar for health and performance monitoring.* Team Leadership: Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop technical staff.* Resource Planning: Scheduling, workload balancing, and capacity planning.* Performance Management: Setting KPIs, monitoring progress, and conducting evaluations.* Conflict Resolution & Communication: Handling team issues and maintaining morale.* Project Management: Familiarity with methodologies (Agile, Waterfall), budgeting, and timelines.* ITIL Framework: Incident, change, and problem management processes.* Documentation & Reporting: Creating SOPs, technical documentation, and executive reports.* Analytical Thinking: Troubleshooting complex hosting issues.* Communication: Explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.* Adaptability: Managing priorities in fast-changing environments.* Collaboration: Building strong relationships with internal teams and vendors. **We take care of our people (what we offer):*** Employment Type: Full Time, Regular* Union/Non-Union: Union - BCGEU* Salary Grid Level: Level 30, Schedule 2* Annual Salary: $118,295.06 – $135,264.21 (Based on a 40-hour work week)* Office Location: Victoria, BC - HybridWe promote a diverse, equitable work environment and welcome employment applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
