Reporting to the Metallurgy Development Manager, the Control Systems Engineer is accountable for the effective operation and efficient maintenance of control systems infrastructure to support achievement of business objectives. This includes planning for and implementing new technology.This position offers relocation assistance, a compressed workweek with alternating Fridays off and a flexible work policy.Key ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresEnsure the performance and efficient maintenance of control systems infrastructure and associated applications to support achievement of business objectivesPlan for and implement current control system technologyCollaborate with leaders of other disciplines (process control, operations, process technical, maintenance, projects, etc.) to ensure optimal utilization of control systems and alignment on improvementsManage control system projects, budgets and capital portfolioProvide guidance as the Control System Subject Matter Expert for management of site-wide standards, as well as adherence to corporate and regulatory standardsDraft technical reports and control system documentationQualificationsPost-secondary education is required. Either a Bachelor of Engineering or a Diploma in Engineering Technology are acceptable. Specialization in Electrical,
Computer Science, Control Systems, Process Control, Automation or Instrumentation are assetsMinimum 5 years of work experience as a process control systems leader or relevant experience with industrial control systems. Sound knowledge of the industry’s state-of-the-art developments and best practicesApplicants must be eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (“EGBC”) as this will be a condition of employment. P. Eng or P.L.Eng. are acceptable. Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registrationExperience with control system hardware/software, architectures, networking, and system management.
