Position Title:Business Advisor (Internal)Location:Robert Lee YMCA (955 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC V6E 0B1) and Remote (with regular travel required to work sites across the Lower Mainland)Term:Permanent, Part-TimeHours:17.5 hours per weekShift:Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pmStart Date:April 27, 2026End Date:March 31, 2027Salary:$27,540.20 annuallyReports To:Manager, Self Employment Program*Some benefits may vary based on employment termsCompetitive vacation and paid sick timeFree YMCA Gym Membership+ Y@HomeTraining and Professional Development OpportunitiesBe part of a charitable organization that positively impacts the communityThe Business Advisor will support WorkBC clients as they transition towards business launch, providing ongoing 1:1 support over the first 12 months of their start-up period. Working in a team comprising of other Advisors, manager and administrative support, the Business Advisor will be responsible for managing a caseload of clients at different stages of the program, while coaching individuals towards successful outcomes.Major ResponsibilitiesCoach and mentor participants to create an individualized business planCreate, prepare and facilitate small business workshopsFacilitate group training/education and networking meetingsResearch and provide relevant resources customized for each participantManage participant files/information (electronic and/or hard copy)Maintain detailed case notesConduct participant follow-up, documentation and reportingRecruit, screen,



and assess participants for program suitability and eligibilityConduct community outreach and marketing to engage and recruit participants as neededFundraise and support YMCA’s initiatives as neededOther duties as requiredQualification3-5 years small business experienceBachelor’s Degree in business, education and/or related field or equivalent combination of education and experienceCoaching, counselling and/or mentoring education and/or experience with demonstrated capacity to serve clients with diverse needs.Outstanding facilitation experience, with the knowledge, techniques and personality to easily engage participantsKnowledge of business trends and community resourcesKnowledge of WorkBC program policies an assetStrong business writing skills, including experience with business plans and financial projectionsExcellent communications skills, including verbal and written EnglishProven competence with administration and reportingSuccessful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory referencesSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.YMCA BC is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible workplace where all members of our community feel valued, respected, and supported.
