You’ll lead development usingPHP(especially Laravel), and play a key role in moving from monoliths to microservices. This hands-on role offers the chance to shape architecture, boost performance, and drive innovation in a high-traffic environments. This is afully remoteposition to work fromCanada(Core Hours 9:30 am - 4:30 pm PST) Salary:CAD 130k to 160k gross/year Fully remoteposition to work in a payroll system. The company is base in Canada. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of backend development tasks using PHP and Laravel, ensuring effective and secure implementations. Design core backend systems to transition into a scalable microservices-based architecture. Develop and maintain robust APIs for both internal use and public consumption. Work closely with infrastructure and DevOps teams to enhance automation, monitoring, and deployment processes. Conduct peer code reviews, mentor team members, and help establish engineering standards. Optimize systems to perform under heavy load while maintaining high reliability and security. Proactively contribute to the evolution of the platform’s architecture and tech stack.
Required Skills & Experience 7+ years of experience inPHPand Laravel within production environments (including project leadership roles) Proficient with cloud services, preferablyAWS(ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, etc.). Deep knowledge of relational databases, particularlyPostgreSQL, with an emphasis on schema design and performance tuning. Solid background in CI/CD pipelines, system observability, and DevOps methodologies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions and mentor team members. Experience with scalable architecture patterns and optimization techniques. Nice to have Background in building event-driven systems ormicroservice -oriented architectures. Familiarity with tools likeRedis, RabbitMQ, or other messaging/caching solutions. Awareness of secure development practices and DevSecOps concepts. Previous work in gaming, real-time, fintech, or blockchain-related platforms. Experience with containerized applications usingDockerand orchestration tools likeKubernetesor ECS.
