Founded by dual-qualified Iranian Canadian cross-border Immigration Lawyer Homa Yahyavi, the firm focuses on Canadian and U.S. immigration law and family law, including BC divorce law. YA Law specializes in sponsorship and family-based applications, work visas, company and investor visas, permanent residency, and citizenship for both Canada and the U.S.

Role Description: This is contract and remote role.

Responsibilities include preparing and organizing legal documents and application packages for Canadian / USA immigration matters, including temporary and permanent residence, family sponsorship, and visas. The paralegal will conduct legal and factual research, track case deadlines, maintain client files, and communicate with clients to collect information and documentation. Additional tasks involve drafting correspondence, completing immigration forms, assisting with procedural requirements, and coordinating with government agencies where needed.

The role requires solid attention to detail,



reliable time management, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with the legal team.

Qualifications

Solid foundation in Law with specific exposure to Canadian Immigration Law/ USA immigration law. Demonstrated experience handling Immigration Issues, including family sponsorships and permanent residence.

Knowledge of Visas processes, such as work permits, study permits, and investor or business-related visas.

Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation for applications, affidavits, forms, and supporting materials.

Strong research, writing, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Prior experience as an immigration paralegal, legal assistant, or caseworker is highly beneficial.

Ability to manage multiple files, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a remote, contract setting.

Fluency in English required; additional language skills welcomed. Relevant paralegal certificate, legal studies, or comparable training and experience in Canadian immigration practice.
