Church Engagement Advisor (Atlantic Region) Overview World Vision Canada seeks a Church Engagement Advisor to build mutually beneficial relationships with pastors, church leaders, and Christian organizations to support World Vision’s mission of addressing poverty and injustice globally. The role focuses on developing a network of World Vision advocates within churches and related Christian groups and aligning engagement with fundraising goals and ministry objectives.
Position Details Position: Church Engagement Advisor (Atlantic Region) Reports to: People Manager, Church and Corporate Partnerships Position Term: Full Time Permanent Primary Location: Remote Workplace Type: Remote Job Purpose The Church Engagement Advisor is externally focused on building mutually beneficial relationships with pastors, church leaders, and Christian organizations to support World Vision’s mission of alleviating poverty and injustice. This role creates two-way value exchanges between Canadian churches and World Vision to support discipleship, engage congregations, and benefit the children and communities World Vision serves. The role deploys best-practice development strategies and a moves-management approach to cultivate a network of advocates in churches, parachurches, Christian organizations, and ministries.
It is responsible for executing the Church Engagement strategy to support fundraising goals and contribute input to other teams’ go-to-market strategies based on audience expertise. This role reports to the People Manager, Church and Corporate Engagement and receives operational direction from the Senior Manager, Church Engagement.
Responsibilities - Execute the Church Engagement strategy to meet annual fiscal goals and key performance metrics, increasing funds for the field and engaging Canadians in church partnerships.
- Build and cultivate strategic relationships with pastors, church leaders, and select congregation members using a relational sales approach, tracked in CRM, to align ministry priorities with World Vision’s mission.
- Utilize disciplined sales and moves-management strategies to increase the number of engaged churches, resulting in higher revenue and deeper partnerships.
- Identify, qualify, and advance church opportunities using relationship-building and fundraising strategies to meet activity, revenue, and engagement goals.
- Develop and implement mutually beneficial engagement plans between targeted churches and World Vision Canada that align financial objectives with ministry goals.
- Maintain and advance relationships with pastors and churches through all opportunity stages using a structured moves-management approach.
- Represent World Vision within church and Christian communities through networking, conferences, and public speaking to raise awareness and cultivate new advocates.
Qualifications - Minimum 3–5 years of progressing ministry leadership experience (e.g., pastor, church employee, para-church leader, or engaged Christian lay leader).
- Experience in fundraising, sales, or business development with proven results.
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in theology, education, communication, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Passion for World Vision’s mission with a deep theological understanding of poverty and injustice.
- Experience building partnerships and networking among senior church leaders across traditions and denominations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with public speaking experience.
- Respect for diverse Christian faith traditions and the ability to adapt approaches accordingly.
- Understanding of the needs of faith leaders and the ability to respond empathetically.
- Ability to analyze data, derive insights, and act to achieve predefined outcomes.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and BI dashboards.
Working Conditions - This position requires domestic and international travel and occasional weekend and evening work, as required.
