The Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team in Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Two (2) days at Braddan Private Hospital and two (2) days at Point Grey Private Hospital
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide physiotherapy services to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes, promote independence and improve comfort.
- Perform regular assessments on resident’s physical status, mobility and goals including but RAI-MDS, care plans, transfer and mobility assessments.
- Participate in regular in-service training and continuing education that align with Vancouver Coastal Health and The Care Group
- Contribute to the delivery of physiotherapy service at the facility by participating in quality improvement initiatives, meetings, conducting research, conducting in-services as well as other related education such as sling selection.
- Support with assessment, plans and evaluation of walking program for residents.
- Collaborate with the Recreation team to support activities that promote mobility and general activation (i.e exercise programs)
Qualifications
- Full registration and membership with of the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia
- Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical experience
- Passionate about dementia and elder care
- Believe in continuing education to further your practice.
- Work well in a team and believe in an interdisciplinary approach to person centered care.
Skills and Abilities
- Must possess the personal qualities and attitudes that respect and maintain the spirit, dignity, and individuality of the residents.
- Must have a commitment to excellence in Care of the older person in a Long-Term Care environment.
- Must be committed and understand working with residents with dementia.
- Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and is able to establish and maintain relationships with Ownership/management team, staff, residents, resident’s families, and external agencies.
- Demonstrates good time management.
- Physically and mentally able to perform duties for above position.
- Show a skilled, caring, and considerate attitude to residents, visitors, and staff.
