Remote work with some travel; Company Vehicle; Annual bonus; Medical; Dental; Vision; PTO.Job DetailsThe Commercial Director – Steel leads the commercial strategy and execution for the Canadian steel business, with full accountability for revenue growth, profitability, customer relationships, and sales team performance. This role serves as the senior commercial leader in Canada, partnering closely with customers and internal stakeholders to drive sustainable growth, market share expansion, and operational alignment. The successful candidate is a strategic, customer-facing leader who can balance long-term vision with hands-on execution in a complex, technical, industrial environment.ResponsibilitiesCommercial Leadership & Strategy: Define and execute the Canadian commercial strategy aligned with North American and global objectives. Own sales, margin, and market share targets across the steel segment. Translate market trends, customer needs, and competitive insights into actionable growth plans.Sales & Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Regional Managers and Account Managers. Establish transparent KPIs, performance expectations, and accountability. Coach teams on value-based selling, contract execution, and long-term customer partnerships.Customer & Market Engagement: Act as a senior customer-facing leader, building executive-level relationships with key accounts. Lead major commercial negotiations, long-term contracts, and pricing strategies. Strengthen customer satisfaction, service levels, and retention.Profitability & Financial Performance: Drive pricing discipline, margin improvement, and contract profitability. Partner with Finance and Operations to manage forecasts, budgets, and working capital. Ensure effective contract administration and financial governance.Cross-Functional Collaboration:



Serve as the primary liaison between the Canadian commercial team and internal stakeholders (Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Technical). Align commercial commitments with operational execution and service delivery. Support initiatives that improve safety, quality, and customer outcomes.Market Growth & Risk Management: Increase market share through strategic account growth and new business development. Address complex commercial challenges including customer complaints, service disruptions, and contract escalations. Ensure safety and risk awareness for teams supporting customer sites.What Success Looks LikeConsistent achievement of revenue and margin targetsStrong, trusted customer relationships at the executive levelIncreased market share and long-term contract penetrationA capable, motivated, and accountable commercial teamDisciplined forecasting, pricing, and commercial governanceQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Business, or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred)10+ years of experience in steel, metals, refractories, industrial ceramics, or technical B2B environments3–5+ years leading commercial or sales teamsProven experience operating in the Canadian marketStrong financial, negotiation, and strategic planning capabilitiesEnglish required; French is a plusLeadership ProfileStrategic, results-driven commercial leaderStrong negotiator with sound commercial judgmentCustomer-focused with a long-term partnership mindsetConfident decision-maker in high-stakes, complex situationsCollaborative Leader Who Influences Across Functions: Comfortable balancing urgency with disciplined executionAdditionalIf you want, I can:
