We are currently seeking a passionate and detail‑oriented Prototype Build‑Test Technician to join our team in Beauport, Quebec. This is a full‑time, permanent, hybrid position in Beauport, QC.
What You’ll Do As a Prototype Build‑Test Technician
Test preparation, setup and execution
- Operate test equipment to measure parameters such as temperature, electricity, flow, pressure, force, distance, time, noise and weight.
- Prepare, install, adjust and validate test setups, prototypes, equipment or systems required for testing.
- Work with data acquisition systems, test setups, records, technical drawings and laboratory notebooks.
Prototype fabrication, assembly and modification
- Fabricate, repair, improve, design and build mechanical or electromechanical equipment.
- Assemble and adjust prototype components, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or plumbing‑related elements.
- Use workshop tools and apply good practices in fabrication, light machining and assembly.
Data collection, documentation and analysis
- Document test data, observations, abnormal behaviors, deviations, failures and results in the applicable records.
- Prepare result summaries and initiate analysis using computer tools when required.
- Read, interpret and analyze graphs,
test data or results generated by instruments and data acquisition systems.
Technical support and continuous improvement
- Participate in analysis, root‑cause investigation and resolution of technical issues related to prototypes, tests or equipment.
- Propose methods, procedures, approaches or improvements that support quality, reliability, safety and project objectives.
- Contribute technical support during projects, product improvements, design transfers or situations requiring hands‑on expertise.
Health, safety, order and compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Apply a health‑and‑safety‑focused approach, including risk analysis and appropriate mitigation measures.
- Work within a regulated, procedural environment subject to documentation requirements.
Requirements
Required
- At least a DEP diploma or equivalent training in a relevant field such as electromechanics, mechanical fabrication, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, welding/assembly or any other related technical field.
- Experience with measuring equipment and tools for electrical, hydraulic, electronic, or reliability testing is highly desirable.
- Fluency in French. Functional technical English, including reading and writing.
Preferred
- One year of experience in a product development or product improvement environment, or two years as a production equipment tester.
- Technical skills in welding, machining, advanced mechanical fabrication, programming, 3D drafting/design or automation and PLC knowledge are preferred.
- Prior experience in the safe operation of manual/electric pallet trucks and forklifts are considered assets.
