Job Number:QAI-ELE-DEPMGR- Job Title:Department Manager - Electrical Product SafetyLocation:Burnaby, British ColumbiaNumber of Positions:1Category:Testing and EvaluationSalary Range:$85,000 - $120,000 CAD annuallyThe role supports the Electrical Safety Department at our Burnaby, BC location.ResponsibilitiesManages the electrical safety team and their day-to-day activities with respect to scheduling and managing the department’s backlog of projects.Understands the typical scope and complexity of electrical safety tests (dielectric strength, creepage/clearance, leakage current, environmental testing, etc.) to plan and schedule projects effectively.Monitors and tracks progress of testing and certification files to ensure timely completion and customer satisfaction.Prioritizes projects and allocates resources based on testing complexity, deadlines, and client requirements.Has a foundational understanding of evaluating electrical products in accordance with nationally recognized electrical safety standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc.) as dictated by business requirements.Works to grow all aspects of the Electrical Department’s business.Possesses a general understanding of electrical testing, inspection and certification services.Helps grow the overall Electrical program, including scope and revenue.Participates and takes the required technical lead during audits as required.Participates in other areas of electrical operations.Becomes familiar with QAI’s quality system and administrative procedures.Interacts effectively and professionally with customers and staff,



as required.Ensures work activities and lab equipment comply with QAI’s quality system.Travels throughout Canada and the USA as business dictates.Appears as a member of an energetic team with a can‑do attitude.Other duties as assigned by the manager or its designee.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.At least 5 years of directly related experience.Superior MS Word and Excel skills, and proficiency with Email and Adobe Acrobat.Good Laboratory Practice skills essential for testing products.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Key Technical CompetencePractical knowledge in the areas of electrical testing, inspection, and certification.Ability to evaluate requirements for testing, inspection, and/or certification and develop timelines that meet client and company needs.Capable of meeting expected timelines and grasping the concept of prioritization.Multi‑tasking and coordinating many activities across multiple departments, teams, and locations.Identifying conformance to test, inspection, and/or certification criteria and communicating this to clients and throughout the organization.Additional InformationCandidates must hold a valid BC driver’s license.Candidates must hold a valid passport (or be able to obtain one) and must be able to travel to the US and international destinations.Successful candidates will progress, subject to satisfactory performance, through a 3‑month probation and training period.Equal Opportunity Employer QAI Laboratories is an Equal Chance/Affirmative Action employer.
