It's a leadership role at the center of everything we design and manufacture.We are seeking a Manager, Design & Drafting to lead a team of designers and drafters across two Calgary locations and two product lines: shell-and-tube heat exchangers and air-cooled heat exchangers.You will coach and develop junior designers who are still finding their feet, develop intermediates who want to grow, and partner with senior designers who have decades of institutional knowledge. You will manage departmental capacity and project priorities, and ensure the accuracy and quality of fabrication documentation produced by the team. You will also help advance drafting standards, strengthen collaboration between design and production, and support EIL's ongoing transition from Autodesk Inventor to SolidWorks.What you'll doLead, coach, and develop a team of designers and drafters across two Calgary locations and product linesOversee the quality, accuracy, completeness, and buildability of fabrication drawings, models, and drawing packageManage scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projectsEstablish and improve drafting standards, templates,



component libraries, and departmental processesSupport the integration of Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorksin a PDM workflowConduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and professional development planningPartner with engineering, project management, procurement, and production to resolve design and fabrication issuesBuild and maintain a team culture grounded in trust, accountability, and continuous improvementWhat you bringA proven track record of leading and developing a technical team within a manufacturing, fabrication, drafting, design, or engineering environmentExperience managing teams of 10+ employees, ideally across junior, intermediate, and senior levelsStrong knowledge of 3D modelling, 2D detailing practices, drafting standards, and assembly documentation in industrial equipmentProficiency with SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor, including experience with PDM systems and digital document-management workflowsThe ability to review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and practical manufacturabilityExperience working collaboratively with engineering, project management, and production teamsStrong communication skills and a coaching-first leadership approachA diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design or a related disciplineNice to haveP.Eng.



designation or eligibilityExperience with ASME, TEMA, or API codes and standardsExperience with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and Air CoolersExperience in Design of Steel Structures, pipe racks and skidsExperience leading a CAD platform migrationFamiliarity with Autodesk Vault or comparable document control systemsExperience developing or modernizing drafting standards, templates, or component librariesFormal leadership training, an MBA, or other business educationWork environmentThis is a primarily on-site role based out of our Calgary operations, splitting time between our Quarry Park office and our production facility, located approximately 10 minutes apart. The position includes regular interaction with the shop floor and production teams and offers up to five work-from-home days per month.
