Part‑time Community‑Based Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Durham

Schedule Requirements

Full‑time position (37.5‑40 hours per week)

Must be available Monday‑Friday, with flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred

Must be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing weekly schedule for the foreseeable future

Available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans

Provide companionship and light housekeeping to help a person stay at home

Prepare meals in accordance with the client’s or family’s request, being open to preparing different kinds of cuisine

Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker

Assist clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises

Meet safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly

Work within the limits of own experience and knowledge, practicing safely and competently within the job description

Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a car for daily work

Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas; asset for rural/remote travel





Effective verbal and written communication in English

PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or international nursing/doctorate certification

Negative TB test completed within the last year

Valid CPR/First Aid certificate

Valid WHMIS 2015 certificate of completion

COVID‑vaccination receipt (subject to exemption pursuant to Ontario’s Human Rights Code)

Immunizations for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and diphtheria required; Hepatitis B strongly urged

Valid criminal record check completed within the last year

Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed

Good judgment, ability to work independently, and to work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team

Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) registration is an asset
