Position Details
Position Type: Long-Term Ocassionnal – Part time
Classification: EO1 – AAETFS
Number of positions: 2
Language of Instruction: Bilingual (French – English)
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 9:45 am and 3:30 pm to 6:15 pm
Location: Toronto campus – 296 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, M4N 1T7
Start Date: September 2026 – June 2027
Salary Range: C$ 28.01 – 30.91 per hour
About the Position
Reporting to the Principal and/or his delegates, and working in collaboration with teachers and resource teachers, you will be responsible for supporting classroom activities.
Responsibilities
Assisting classrooms and teachers
Helping teachers prepare activities and materials that support lesson plans
Participating in the ravine, outings, and field trips when required
Supervising, engaging, guiding, and providing in‑class support to students alone or in groups
Supervising and helping students during snack, lunch, bathroom, and recess time; preparing students before and after recess (e.g., clothing, shoes). Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel is required.
Helping maintain a tidy, clean, healthy, safe, and secure environment; monitoring students for allergies, hand washing, etc.
Monitoring student behavior and using positive discipline
Replacing in the classroom during meetings or as needed
Using appropriate French language (reinforcing the French language) in interactions and modeling positive behaviour
Maintaining a collaborative relationship with all stakeholders
Supervising students in the after‑school childcare and ensuring its operations at the end of the regular school day
Ensuring safe pick‑up and drop‑off for the after‑school care as needed
Performing other related duties as assigned
Replacing office staff and working on administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
Excellent French and English skills (oral and written)
Level B2 in English
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience with children (pre‑school, primary and junior levels)
Excellent interpersonal skills, respectful, and diplomatic communication with students, parents and staff
Solid work ethic and effective time‑management skills
Independent and reliable team player, flexible with the ability to work in a demanding environment
Proven effective conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills
Discretion
Training as an Early Childhood Educator or Teacher would be an asset
